I was very pleased with the numbers on my scales this morning- I'm off to a strong start! My hubby is working on his weight loss as well and when he weighed in the scales didn't change. Boy was he mad! I tried to be encouraging. He's most likely retaining fluid, or his body is doing that "whoa there bud, where did all the calories go, I better conserve" thing that our bodies do. I told him I'd BET him if he keeps doing what he did this week, he'll see a loss next weigh-in. Once he does find his groove, he often loses faster than I do. However, he then reaches a plateau and I pass HIM up. But this isn't really a race my friends, it's a personal journey and we will all get there in our own ways.

Here I go again. Right now, I'm just going to focus on healthy eating and exercising regularly and not dwell on what happens when I lose about thirty pounds and then just stop trying. I've been on a rollercoaster with my weight loss for years now and I just haven't figured out what will keep me on solid ground indefinitely. At least this time I didn't gain everything back plus more which means I'm starting a little lower than I did previously. Also, on the bright side, I'm down 2.6 pounds my first week. Whoohoo! My current focus is to work harder at increasing my protein for more sustained energy. That is not an easy task for me. I'm a flexitarian- I don't eat a lot of meat and prefer vegetarian options so I have to supplement. I bought some Isopure protein powder and some nutritional yeast and I'm now trying to figure out how to incorporate those things in creative ways with food. I'm okay with the occasional smoothie, but I prefer to eat my meals rather than drink them. I love most veggies except mushrooms (texture) and beets (tastes like dirt to me) and pretty much can't stand anything seafood. Eggs are a staple for me and I do like most beans and grains so that's helpful. Processed sugar and highly processed carbs literally HURT my stomach. I mean real pain and throwing up within three days if I don't take omneprazole. As long as I'm eating right and staying away from processed foods, my stomach is fine. One would think that alone would be a heck of a motivator for staying on track. Yet here I am in re-set mode again. Hey, at least I'm here right? (Pats self on back- I've got this. One day at a time)

My weight is starting to trend upwards a little so I think it's time to start tracking my food intake again. I need to catch myself before I fall. I was in a great routine of waking up and working out and I haven't been doing that for the past two weeks. Also during that time I've been dog-sitting my daughter's two awesome dogs while she is on her honeymoon. As awesome as they are, they both want to sleep in the bed with me which has definitely disrupted my sleep. Lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and convenience foods- it's no wonder I'm up a couple of pounds. Everything should be back to normal by Monday but I'm not waiting until Monday to get a handle on things. I used to do that. Make justifications- "well, I'll start fresh on Monday" then eat everything in sight until Monday. Not this time. I'll get a grip TODAY by tracking my food and committing to at least 30 minutes of exercise. TODAY. Not tomorrow, not Monday. I'm in control.

Woohoo! Achieved another goal and now I'm more than halfway to my ultimate goal. I'm really close to being in the 140's now. It has been many, many (many) years since I've been where I am right now. In the past, it has typically been right around the halfway mark that I've always managed to self-sabotage. Since there's a pattern that I'm well aware of now I'm planning to avoid that this time. Onward I go!!

I haven't been officially tracking my food lately and I'm doing well with my weight loss and health goals. This is a good thing! I've been stepping on the scales about once a week just to make sure I'm not going in the wrong direction but I'm not stressing if I'm up a pound or so. I'm just making adjustments accordingly. Still feeling good about my journey!
