No more Olipop. The calories don’t look like a lot, except any calories are a lot for a drink. And less non-dairy milk too even if it has no sugar added, although I can’t give up that stuff completely. I don’t drink dairy 95 percent of the time, might have cow milk very rarely, even if I do eat it.

Oops!
Today I learned a valuable lesson about why you should track more precisely, even if isn’t completely precise, as in, not weighing your food unless you have to (but you can weigh your food if you would like to be as exact as possible)!
Well, I was so lazy I searched up “black bean soup” on FS, and then adjusted the amount on the app so it was the same calories as the Allrecipes page posts under the recipe we made, and…that soup I searched up on FS, who eats soup with that much sodium?????? 😂
Anyway, this is not funny if I track so sloppily again, but…the app said I ate about 3X as much sodium as I actually did. I was horrified and then remembered why.Even an app can punish you .

Not good and neither was the fact that I stress ate sweets even though I said today would be day one of no desserts.
But today I didn’t binge.
I am going to split my dinner in half, drink the whole glass of water and pass on even a bite of the appetizer.

Yesterday I didn’t do so great. But…this is better than weeks before, even if it’s still not great for me.

How do you use your background to eat better than you would by default? I’m curious. It is fascinating how we all live so differently.
For example, even though my family eats very healthy, (many of my, not all of my) peers are a different story…darn Gen Z habits, even though I am on the older end of that generation. I can’t copy my own generation’s usual habits. Yes, they know more about nutrition, such as the nutrients in various vegetables instead of just “eat plenty of vegetables,” and eat more superfoods, but…may overcompensate with a bag of chips lol. 😂
In St. Louis, the unpredictable weather leads to chaotic, erratic eating for many of us.
Former New Orleans resident here…
…and I can attest that even New Orleans food can be healthy, or at least healthy-ish if it does involve eating out.
Trust me. We can do well, or at least sort of well, if not completely, in any situation, whether it is the norm or not.
And part of my Jewish culture is not missing meals even when you are eating very well later on.
Fortunately, Jewish culture is also big on healthy eating and health in general, so the meals are also more balanced, for my family, unless it’s a family member who has a poor personal relationship with food (won’t say who, but they are distant enough not to influence me thank goodness).
