Taking Janumet. Still not taking insulin and my numbers are still running about the same as if I was taking the insulin (sure, not getting those awesome 75-117 numbers, but up and down BGLs is not an indication of how much insulin my body is making or not making) So my body is definitely still making plenty of insulin even though I have barely had any carbs and just moderate protein. This insulin resistance stuff is pretty hard to break, but it did take me years to get resistant, so I guess it may take a while to break it too.
Drinking BPC
Had a weird episode last night. I had two cups of double chai tea last night with HWC and woke up in the middle of the night with full blown acid reflux. I don't know if it was the chai tea or the HWC. I am trying to lay off dairy, perhaps I should lay off of HWC too. Will experiment tonight with the same tea, but use coconut oil and butter instead of the HWC.

Ha! And all I've had today is water and that one BPC and of course, I took the Janumet earlier. Time for dinner!

Late start to the day

Having a second BPC because I just cannot decide what to eat for dinner. I sat out some frozen trout yesterday to thaw, then realized today that it was freezer-burned. Dad forgot to date it. I had my heart set on trout and now I just don't know what to eat. It's too late to set anything else out for dinner today. My options are eggs and tuna. I ate both of those yesterday, so neither is very appealing at the moment. Setting out chicken thighs for tomorrow though.

Taking the Janumet

Still fasting with just water, black coffee, green tea, and sea salt water as needed.
I am now 42 hrs into the fast, 126 hrs left.
I will be adding 1 tbsp of coconut oil to my first cup of coffee. Dr. Fung says this is okay and I noticed aches returning last night, so I need it.
My body finally said enough is enough and it wanted food. So having some tuna fish with avocado and mayo. I did manage a 48 hr fast. So that is a good start for me I think.

So tired of these high numbers with or without insulin... doing LCHF as strictly as I can and not see these lowering numbers everyone else sees.
I am going to force all this excessive insulin out of my body. Beginning today!
Day One of Week One Fast
I will be having:
1. Water, lots of water
2. Sea salt water, 1-2 times a day as needed
3. BLACK coffee, 1-2 cups
4. Green tea, 2-3 cups
That's it! Let's see how long I can make it without actual food and what it does to the insulin and BGLs. If Dr. Fung's theory is correct, I should show significant changes within a few days. According to him, as you fast, your body burns up the excess insulin, your BGLs go down and eventually you begin burning your own fat.
Edit: Holy cow! I am drinking BLACK coffee and I have not died from it *laughs* If anyone told me even two days ago that I would make it through one 16 oz cup of black coffee, let alone two, I would have laughed. But I am doing it! No cream, no stevia, no butter, no coconut oil.. just good ole black coffee. I am amazed even at myself!
In other news.. my BGL has gone up only 1 point. It is now at 174. I haven't taken any insulin today, but I am going to take the Janumet now.
Edit Two: Ha! My BGl has come down to 142 since I took the Janumet. Still fasting! It has now been 25 hrs since my last food meal and no BPC today either.
Edit Three: BGL is now down to 115... still no food, just water and black coffee... loving this!

Waist measurement - 48 inches - down .25 inches
My BGL just keeps going up a little each day and not coming down. I really don't want to go back on the insulin. I want to let this process play out with just taking the Janumet and losing weight. I will go one more day, and if it continues to go higher, I guess I will break down and take some insulin.
At dinner time, my BGL was 175. 4 hrs after I ate, it was up to 194. I broke down and took some insulin. It is now at 107 @ 12:08 am. I guess I will have to stay on the insulin and just gradually reduce it on my own since my doctor won't.
