Good morning everyone! So today is Day 1 of my switch from 1400 cal Keto to 1200 cal CICO, with a focus on whole foods. I am also starting a new vitamin/supplement routine (Women's Ripped packets from GNC). I am excited to mix things up and hopefully see some changes on the scale in the right direction.

Also important to note that over the last 2 month long plateau I have been pretty consistent with my calories and use a food scale that I check for accuracy weekly. I have been "dieting" for 20 years, so I feel very confident in my ability to measure and weigh proper portions. I am really looking forward to having fruit and increasing my veggies; I have missed those on keto. So, let's see how this goes!

And please share any tips you think might help. I am open minded and really need this to work. Thank you in advance.

So, I'm pretty confident that this is water weight. I have been some form of low carb for months. Yesterday I had Japanese food (habachi style), then today had the leftovers. So going from very minimal carbs to a large portion of rice and sauces that definitely contained sugar two days in a row, I'm sure those carbs are holding some water (about 3.4g of water for every 1g of carb I think). I went to GNC yesterday and got some new vitamins (Women's Ripped) that are supposed to boost energy and metabolism and help with water weight at the same time. I will start taking them tomorrow.

I have been seeing so many posts about CICO, and seeing a lot of success stories. I have been stuck at the same weight for what feels like forever. So I must be eating too much. I am having a hard time believing that though, because my BMR is 1941 calories. That does not count ANY activity. I consistently eat less than 1500 cal per day. Over the past two months, I should have lost at least a few pounds.

400 daily deficit X 60 days = 24,000 calories out

So as you can see, I am confused. Starting tomorrow I am going to try CICO, 1200 calories per day. I figure any diet at 1200 per day should work, period. And at least I will get to eat some things I have been missing, like adding a banana to my protein smoothie.

I know there are many CICO followers on FS, so please give me advice. I need help. I do not want to give up on losing the weight. And this long term plateau is where I have always given up in the past. Is there a secret to CICO or can I just make sure that I am burning more than I am taking in and the weightloss will happen? I feel like I have already been doing this, but maybe needed to cut the calories even more? How accurate is BMR? Because that is what I have been basing things on in the past. It might seem silly, but I chose 1200 calories because that is the number that Dr. Now always recommends on My 600 lbs Life. It seems like the magic number, no matter what the people weigh he says, "I'm putting you on a 1200 calorie high protein diet."
