Okay—I DID IT! I finally got up the courage to go up to our local rec Plex and do a circuit in the weight training room! If it hadn’t been for all of the posts/pix I’ve been seeing, and all the support I feel here at FS, I don’t know if I’d ever have done it! I haven’t done weights/machines since 20 years ago—except for physical therapy. I’m going to record here what I did, and I’m going to have to take a picture, too. 😬 I’ll be waiting to see some progress before I even think about posting it! There were some nice people who helped me out (I was sitting totally backwards on the back extension machine!), and I was careful not to overdo things. Then I came home and walked my dogs for 30 minutes. The ice pack feels good on my back and I just finished lunch (Amy’s Mexican Casserole and Tostitos). I’m so glad I went and that I finally overcame my fear of going. It’s only taken me a few months to go; in the past it would’ve been years. Now I need to figure out what to do to make progress without getting hurt. 😊🥰 Here’s what all I did:

stretched; walked 5 laps (17 laps = 1 mile)
Arm extensions: 3 sets of 10, 15#
Arm curls: 3 sets of 10, 10#
Overhead presses: 3 sets of 10, 30#
Low row: 3 sets of 10, 10#
Torso rotation: 2 sets of 5, 10# (unsure if I’ll do this again w/all my back issues)
Abdominal presses: 3 sets/10 reps/ 30#
Back Extensions: 3 sets/10 reps/30#
Leg extensions: 3 sets/10/20#
Leg press: both legs—4 sets/10/50#; each leg—3 sets/10/30#
Hip abduction: 6 sets/10/35#
Hip adduction: 3/10/35#
Walked 5 laps; stretched

Just got back day before yesterday from being gone for 2 weeks. We spent a week in Greece and a week in Israel, and it was fantastic! The hardest part was traveling 25 hours back home to Missouri and getting back to this time zone. It was 8 hours ahead of Central time over there, so the awake/sleep times were basically the opposite of each other. I’m feeling pretty good that I only gained 1.8 lbs. back. We walked a lot almost every day, but I didn’t hold back on eating desserts. I probably ate more of the desserts than I did the main courses! And this was the first time I’d ever had chicken shawarma—we had it almost every day for lunch in Israel, and it was awesome. I’m glad to be back home, and now that I’m feeling “human” again, I’m glad that we went. I never thought in a million years that I’d get to visit the Holy Land and do all the things we were able to do...and to have walked where Jesus walked was an experience I’ll hold dear forever. Now it’s time to get back to working on these last 25 pounds!
