I believe that we should lean into our natural inclinations and make our diets healthy while following the grain of our tendencies, rather than fighting them.
I personally hate fasting and not eating when I'm hungry. I am a volume eater. I enjoy exercise most in the energetic forms of running and dance. The times that I tried to do yoga or Tai Chi have ended quickly from boredom, despite their beauty. These are my limitations and strengths.
A very short but poignant book entitled "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff explains how keeping things simple and going with our flow can create success, and illustrates these concepts of Chinese philosophy through A.A. Milne's beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh.

So for the past couple of weeks I have been trying out "French Women Don't Get Fat" diet, but the scale has not budged (Grrrrrrr!!!). The diet may be a better approach for maintenance, but for weight loss, I'm not seeing results.
So I have switched gears and am now using "The Beverly Hills Diet" (the original from 1981) by Judy Mazel. I think this one is perfect for me, in that it focuses on mad amounts of fruit (my favorite food!) for the first 5 weeks (and every morning thereafter), there's unlimited amounts (so no calorie counting), and I can graze all day long (which I am prone to do, since it takes me forever -- 2 hours -- to eat a meal). No added sugar or salt is allowed, nor processed foods, sugar substitutes, sodas, milk or cheese (no biggie as I am lactose intolerant and avoid processed foods anyway).
Positives:
1. Yummy fresh fruits (papaya, pineapple, mango, grapes, watermelon) that are readily available year round at my local supermarket;
2. Introduces items that I've never tried before (Nutritional Yeast, raw & unhulled sesame seeds, and unprocessed wheat bran flakes). Ordered these on Amazon today;
3. No calorie counting (Despite my mad dislike of this, I am tracking this on F.S. anyway, but just for 5 weeks);
4. Unlimited eating, with few exceptions (e.g. butter, bananas, dried fruit, bread). For this reason/excuse, but also because I love new gadgets, I purchased a food scale.
Negatives:
1. Expensive -- exotic fresh fruit is not cheap;
2. Assumes that one is a meat-eater or pescatarian -- steak and lobster are on the menu -- (I'm vegan/vegetarian), and the only non-meat protein allowed is nuts;
3. Rules on food combining make for tricky maneuvering (no mixing carbs with proteins, and this book considers ALL legumes (e.g. lentils, beans) to be a natural hybrid of 1/2 carbohydrate & 1/2 protein).
I'm on Day 2 so far, and will weigh in this weekend to see how it's going.

Ugh!!! I am retaining water and it's reeeealllly uncomfortable. My face and stomach have blown up like Mickey Mouse's hand when he blows into his thumb (hee hee).
Last night I treated myself to a luxury dinner -- in content, not in calories: Melba toasts blanketed with pillows of whipped cream cheese and spoonfuls of caviar nestled in, smoothed down with 2 glasses of champagne. Diiiivine 🤗😋.
Unfortunately, dairy bloats me now and the caviar isn't exactly low sodium, plus I can't lose weight if I drink alcohol. So add up all 3 and I'm-a hurtin' girl.
So for today and tomorrow I am flushing it out with a mini-cleanse of Leeks and Leek broth. I'll weigh in afterwards to see if that helped any. It's part of the "French Women Don't Get Fat" diet I've started recently (last night was NOT part of that plan!).

Went to the grocery store today and used some of the food budget for orchids instead. Feelin' purty good 'bout that decision! Am making some self-luv tweaks to my day, like putting on fun music to dance around my living room and morning mud mask facials alongside my black coffee to ease my way into life.
A slim friend at work recommended a diet/WOE book that she used when faced with stubborn baby weight pounds in her 30's. She said it was the only diet that she could do long-term and not cheat on (out of a whole bookcase of diet books that she plowed through with limited success). Since it's decadent and non-depriving, I bought my own copy to try out. Always keeping the body guessing!

Today I walked 3 miles (and 3 back) for my annual doctor visit(s), and it turns out that my home scale and their office's scale are the same, so no surprises (Whew!).
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 133.0
Body Fat (BMI): 22%
Blood Pressure: 91/67
Lipid Panel:
Total Cholesterol: 206 (ideal is <199)
HDL: 51
LDL: 130 (ideal is <99)
Trig: 124
Potassium: 2.4 (ideal is 3.5 - 5.0)
I am not on any medications, and I told the doctor that I will not take anything for cholesterol, even if she did suggest some. Will just diet and exercise more. She just told me to take more vitamin D and magnesium -- for what? Turning 50? Who knows. Maybe it's preventative at this point. I already take a daily multivitamin.
Did get potassium pills prescribed. I am always low on this. Am used to it, but doctors always freak out. ((shrugs))
So because I didn't lose much by this appointment as planned, I punished myself by walking into a salon and chopping off all of the hair that still had pre-Covid color. It looks short and HORRIBLE now but feels so soft and healthy. It will look reasonable in about 3 months, and I am still rewarding myself at 125 lbs. with another trip to my stylist for a new haircolor. Incentive to lose more and fast!!
I'll look like a brand new person! Happy hump day, all!
