Have been eating very simply lately: 2-3 bowls of cherries for breakfast, a banana or 2 for lunch, and dinner is just a big bowl of beans (pinto, white, or black from dried) made with olive oil and various spices topped with fresh herbs from the garden. Have not felt motivated this week to be adventurous in the kitchen, possibly due to the new workout routine (Barre). Am actually waking up hungry due to the increased exercise.

Hair is mostly and finally long enough to pull into a high ponytail without aid of a barrette. It still looks wild and unruly down, but at least I have another alternative to ball caps for public outings. (Side Note: Short hair is incredibly high-maintenance. Every morning I wake up looking like a bomb detonated. Also cannot get away with drip-dry & go styling. I will never, ever ever cut my hair short again, no matter how damaged it is.)

Hooray! Made it all the way through a 45 minute video workout of Barre Method with minimal falling over/balance issues 👍🏻🤪

I started it on Wednesday and could only do 15 minutes before dying. Did a little bit every day, getting stronger, until today when I could do the whole thing. It's basically a cross between Pilates and Ballet exercises/resistance training using your own body weight and light weights, but requires mad balance and core strength, since I'm supposed to be able to go slowly and hold/pulse like a graceful dancer. Snort. Actually, I've done dance classes (ballet, modern, tap) on and off my whole life, mostly to combat my natural clumsiness, but also because I find the classes fun. This is my first attempt at Barre.

Now that my 2nd Pfizer shot has kicked in, I can do in-person classes without catching my death. I've found 2 different studios to try out next week (first class free deals). One offers yoga at the beach for sunrise and sunset classes, and the other studio is strictly Barre Method. One is about a 2 mile walk away, the other 3 miles away, so I'll be able to get in a decent warm-up and cool down for both.

I took official "Before" photos this week. I look muscular and lean from the waist up, and like an upside-down, melted ice cream cone below 🍧. Much Work to Do!!!!

Setting a goal for the month of June: get down to 124.9 lbs/56kg.

According to my doctor, 125 lbs/56kg is actually the "perfect" weight for my frame (5'5"/1.65m, hourglass curvy, and small-boned). So while this isn't my final goal, health-wise it is. I also plan to have another lipids panel run to check on my cholesterol levels, as I need to drop 7 points on the total and reduce my LDL a smidge. Nothing earth-shattering, but the aim is the whole inside/outside package.

In the past couple of weeks, minus a few days babying myself after my second Pfizer vaccine, I've upped the exercise to include light jogging and strength training. Nothing hard core, just easing into it since all quarantine I've just done walking and hiking.

My rewards of hitting 124.9 by July 1st will be a pair of earrings and a membership to a Yoga/Pilates/Barre studio with 1 month of unlimited classes (which of course will help me get to my final goal of 118 lbs/53kg). I'm really missing the human interactions that in-person classes provide.
