Can anyone recommend a Greek yoghurt brand in the U.K.? I’m willing to transition over from full fat strawberry activia yoghurts… but I’m so used to the sugary taste I’m scared if Greek yoghurt will taste too tart and bitter… any help is greatly appreciated!

ChatGPT is recommending Fage Total 2% or 5%, Chobani Whole Milk Plain, or Siggi’s for milder/less tart taste And to add a sprinkle of cinnamon, 10 walnut halves, chia seeds and banana or berries for sweetness

Fage is my favorite brand. If you're used to sweetened yogurt, the unsweetened will indeed be tart, but it's not generally bitter. What you might try is adding a measured amount of sugar that's less than what the presweetened yogurts have. I find just a teaspoon of sugar is plenty, whereas some of the flavored yogurts have 3 or 4 teaspoons. Mixing some fruit in also works, or a spoonful of unsweetened applesauce. Realize that if you cut down on sugar, your taste buds will adjust over time. You could also try a little stevia

I think Fage is the best. Lovely with some seeds and a wee drop of maple syrup or honey if you like sweet. Watch out for 'Greek style' yoghurt which aren't really Greek!

I enjoy M&S or Tesco brand Greek yogurt. It’s creamy, thick, and tasty. I don’t find it bitter. I usually add milled organic flaxseed, chopped dates, and nuts to mine. As Anne said, ‘Greek style’ yoghurt is NOT Greek yoghurt. So, always ensure that you look for one that just reads ‘Greek yoghurt’. It’s usually found in bowl-shaped tub.

Fage is the best and available in all fat levels. But, Tesco own brand is almost as good 👍

I just had some with a spoon of fig jam (or any other jam). It does the trick 👍🏼

Thank you so much everyone! Really appreciate your advice, will avoid ‘Greek-style’. Fage seems the one to try 🙏 and love the tip to add a spoonful of sugar while I adjust to less sugar

Fage is gorgeous- try also Sheep yogurt - some, not all, are truly great. and many have the soft crusty top ... a bit like clotted cream.... Worth sampling many. I was a Fage girl, always - until I discovered a fab Sheep yogurt. I find it less rich and easier to digest....

Fage is authentic greek yogurt you will get all around Greece worked in tzatzikies, dressings and even as brilliant dessert - yogurt with honey (they drizzle this yogurt with running honey and scatter over crushed walnuts - very yummy!). though our family use any plain yogurt available and add spoonful of home made jam - whatever made in a year: strawberry, blackberry (it's season to make it now), raspberry or blackcurrant, whatever in pantry. we use regular staple supermarkets one, cost anything between 35p and a pound. :)

Its not sweet at all so you have to add something to it which then increases calories and sugar content. It takes a lot of getting used to. Did you know Activia do a 0 fat yogurt with no added sugar which is so similar to the regular ones your used to if you cant make the transition.

There's nothing wrong with Greek 'style' yoghurt, they're just not allowed to call it Greek because it's not made in Greece. Apart from that it's the same ingredients and process.

Total is the best brand! I get through about 3 450g tubs a week :) I mix it with skinny cow either coffee syrups or desert sauces which are zero cal for sweetness and some fresh or frozen berries and it’s possibly one of my favourite things in the world for when I need something for ‘dessert’!

Tesco Greek style yoghurt is wonderful, it can be tart when you first try it. I also put it on soups and stews just before eating. Only a tbsp tbo it makes it taste really creamy. Also if you have muesli for breakfast with milk use a bit of yoghurt instead.

I get mine from Aldi (when they have it). I eat 1 500g tub every day. Lidl if Aldi don’t have it. I refuse to pay £3+ for a 500g tub of Fage
