It's interesting to be on the struggle bus and relieved at the same time. Had my first blood draw yesterday to see what the collateral damage is post "RONA". I'm not going to lie - she hit this system hard. Everything is a push for me right now and I'm not used to going from a space where I can turn on a dime, hustle like no one's business, and still pull out 30 miles on the bike and not blink twice. This drain feels much like my first year after the MS flare up in 2017. Dizzy spells, lack or coordination, forgetfulness and my sense of smell is slooooowly coming back.
That being stated, I was genuinely relieved and thankful for my T-cell results yesterday. The last blood draw before "Rona" had me at beautiful 44% Lymphocyte range (which, is very good). Yesterdays blood draw was at 27.6%. So, yes "Rona" took a hit, but she didn't tank me. It's at the lower end of normal, but it's still normal.
I'm still keeping up with all my workouts and care-giving tasks as my Mom recovers from her last and final joint surgery. But, definitely moving at a much slower rate. Still, at least I don't have to walk around with a mask all the time and live like a girl in a bubble. Am also very thankful I got this version of the virus. It became clear to Mom and I after my temp hit 102.7 that the first couple of versions of this thing would have taken me out, very literally. So, the universe has definitely been watching out for me over the past few years.
Nothing else to be done, but take this body where it's at and transcend from there. She fought a good fight and won. And, I'm very proud of my immune system. I've had many private conversations with my t-cells since this virus came out. And, as I stated to my care team yesterday "I know my immune soldiers have mis-behaved in the past, but when push comes to shove they knew exactly what there mission was and they did exactly what they were supposed to do." Thank you all! {{BIG, BIG HUGZ}} and lots of love to every single one of you. It's safe to say, RONA kinda ticked me off! LOL! In fact, I became even more annoyed with her afterward given how weak I felt. Which, just provokes me to push forward in spite of her. I guess you can tell what kind of "warrior" I am :-) But, truthfully I've been building my arsenal against this virus for a few years. Both Wim Hof method (cold water and breath-work therapy) and the Nose breathing method by Patrick McKewon were marketed pretty hard when the pandemic broke loose in 2019. I did a LOT of research during that time on both these methods and their benefits on immune health and improved respiratory and lung capacity, especially for athletes. And, the science was unequivocal and pretty definitive when it came to the rewards of these 2 approaches to breathing. Wim Hoff's method is actually known to reduce inflammation and increase the production of white blood cells. The "nose breathing" method by Patrick is phenomenal. It took a while to adjust to that in the first year, but for 4 plus years I've been nose breathing though all my workouts even at maximum paces. A lot of athletes are transitioning to this method as well because your lungs and heart actually adjust to using the least amount of oxygen very efficiently in high intensity situations. It's also a great method to get the body to adapt to higher elevations. So, when a girl can hit 297 watts on the bike, at maximum pace having breathed through her nose the whole time - you know RONA'S impact on my respiratory system was pretty negligent. It was weird too, because it wasn't like I didn't have congestion in my chest, but zero issues breathing and zero issues riding the bike (outside of fatigue) and I've hit the 269 watt pace since. And, the proof is in the numbers. My Oxygen saturation NEVER went below 89% at the peak of my fever and then went right up to maintaining between 92-100%. And, I'm a solid 100% at this point. It's like my lungs said, "Oh no, we're ready for ya RONA"! I have been breathless, but from fatigue not an inability to get a breath in. And, the White blood cell and t-cell count speaks for itself. But, part of the reason I continued to work out is because I also know that along with the Wim Hoff method - exercise will not only get rid of old and dead white blood cells and t-cells, it will stimulate your bone marrow to create a WHOOOOLE new batch of immune cells in about a 24-48 hour period, which is also why RONA couldn't tank me. I was and still am constantly stimulating my bone marrow right now to replenish brand new soldiers to either keep me protected or keep fighting the virus and with the least amount of inflammation. Recently, I just added in Pranayama to meditation which is also a wonderful method to keep the sinuses clear. It's heartening to know all these methods really helped when I needed them the most outside of athletic pursuits. And, I have to credit those 2 guys for working so hard years ago to give folks some options to help improve their cardiovascular health. I also had to chuckle after posting this...about 5 minutes later my neurologist contacted me herself and basically said, "yeah, it's all great but you haven't been in here in a year and need to schedule yourself and appt. immediately!" So, I got a slap on the back and on the hand, haha! Anyway, thank you all for your words of encouragement. It always reminds me, the truest strength happens when the push feels the hardest, not when it's easy. And, it's also at our weakest moments when the greatest grace is provided and you all have provided it in spades. Much love and light to all of you <3

You are a champion in every sense of the word. The way you approached the challenge of being ill and the post recovery is so admirable. I watched the wim hof documentary and you’re right, there are so many benefits to his philosophy. Hubs uses ice baths on a pretty regular basis. I cannot get over my aversion to the freezing cold. Although when i was younger i regularly played in a river fed by ice cold mountain water and adjusted. Excellent recovery sis and a lot of us can sure learn from your take no prisoners attitude. You live. Really LIVE. (Not sure how thats going to read so i mean that is in you live life fully)
