I drink water, take walks, get on FS, call someone, journal, read. I know it's really hard. I like to go on FS and read journals and weight loss success stories to keep me motivated. That is great about your A1C!! Good job keeping busy.

I love David's Tea fancy teas (Birthday cake tea, chocolate macaron tea, strawberry shortcake tea... they have so many!) they taste like dessert and have no calories. with a splash of skim milk it's even better.

Idahoannie your winning the battle. What use to happen to me might be what your experiencing, "craving snacks when you get home" i think it's a way to release stress. So staying busy will surely help. Always talk to yourself, even if you have to do it out loud lol. Convenience yourself your not hungry, and yes lots of water!
Good luck love that your a1c dropped! Continued success!

I am not sure of your restrictions - I am a T2D (newly gifted) and I just look for low carb (sugar free) snacks and then I portion them out in baggies, I snack between meals but I follow my nutritionist recommendations to 15 to 25 carbs per snack. I keep the calories in line with the daily balance. I add a little more on days before I go to the gym to make sure I have enough fuel for that. So I guess the long answer to your question is that I don't avoid them - I just plan for them and make good choices for them.

Pinterest keeps me distracted for hours! I'm also a big fan of Minecraft, if you are looking for a sit down distraction. If you need to be up and moving I like to go for a drive or go to the park and play Pokemon Go! A smart phone, a park, and a jug of water and I am good to go!!

We actually had to physically remove all snack food and sugar from our house. No more crackers, just a ton of fruits, berries and veggies (I ended up starting to buy tortilla chips again but that’s the only flour based product). So if I get hungry I have to either eat some green pepper slices/broccoli, etc, or wait until I cook the next meal. We also replaced all bread with Ezekiel bread (great for A1C, 15 grams a slice with three grams of fiber and sugar free multi grain pancake mix). My husbands A1C (he’s type 1 diabetic) has dropped a lot since we started this. Good luck! You got this!

The meals I eat during the day either enhance or reduce the "snack attacks." I don't know what yo eat or drink but sugars and alcohol really trigger urges.

I find carrot sticks help and so does logging food before I eat it so I have to be aware of what I am putting into my body and think about what it will take to burn those calories off. So does keeping busy. You are doing fine and you are stronger than your cravings so hang in there!
