Having been overweight or obese all my life, I've been blessed with good health. In general, I'm easy going, fun to get along with, and a bit awkward in the geeky engineer kind of way. I can think back to a few times in my life that I've been really sad, furious, or anxious... and on rare occasions, those events have affected my appetite. Normally in the "I'll eat everything in sight" kind of way, hardly ever in the "I'm so upset I can't eat" kind of way.

This week I have some HUGE deadlines, out of city visitors at the house, a teenager with her first boyfriend... the list can get longer with all the reasons that I feel BIG stress. I am not the kind of person that declares that I'm stressed out. My stomach aches, my head hurts, and my limbs are weak.

I don't want to eat today. I have food sitting in front of me, and I'm forcing every bite. But I'm jittery and light headed because I haven't eaten enough. UGG!

I'm just venting... In a few days I will have gotten through this deadline, and I'll be on to the next adventure. Though, at this very moment, I want to crawl under my desk and sip on some mint tea.

Still learning ... and seeing the benefits of keto for the first time. First, I'm not hungry. I can eat a lot of food in one sitting if I'm not careful. However, with planned meals, I don't overeat. Second, I'm getting full on little food, if I stop eating. It takes a few minutes to feel full.

The stress has been high at work this week. With a big deadline looming, I'm curious if that will cause havoc with my weight loss. Nevertheless, I have a big loss for the previous week, I'm VERY happy with it!

The plan moving forward this week is to limit carbs and calories. I'm basically training for longer periods of IF. I would like to get to 18/6. Today I fasted for 17 hours, with coffee in the morning. I think the trick for me to get longer hours is to stop eating earlier in the night. It's like clockwork each morning at 10am for me to want a breakfast.

So... FS ... what's the deal with too little calories? If I average 1200/day for the the week, is that okay? Some days, 700 is fulfilling. I could eat more, but do I have to?

A few months ago I started the keto WOE, hoping desperately to lose weight fast... At the end of 6 weeks, I really wasn't seeing results. And, quite frankly, I was wanting to indulge on sweets and breads, so I quit.

Now I'm here, trying it again, and after 9 days of really sticking with the right program, I am amazed that all of the articles about the benefits are real. Energy! Lost appetite! Longer times between meals!

But here are some things that I'm doing different than the last time:

1. I'm limiting my cheese intake. I would use cheese to get my fat grams each day, consuming 4-8 oz of cheese a day!

2. I'm limiting my daily coffee & cream intake. I was having too many cups of coffee with cream and half&half. I probably wasn't logging the qty of carbs correctly. I will admit that I still start everyday with a cup of drip coffee, heavy cream and sugar free syrup. It's a staple that will be hard to ever change in my life. A successful WOE includes a happy cup of coffee in the morning. Move forward, coffee is just in the morning!

3. I'm drinking a TON of water. When I think I've had enough, I drink more. When I'm done with more, I have another. I continue each day with the thought that there is not enough water in me if I haven't peed in the last hour. It has to be the hardest thing for me to change, I have never been good at staying hydrated.

4. I'm adding butter to everything. Without fat from cheese and cream, butter is the next step. I still use coconut and olive oil for cooking, but butter, it's the best.

I'm not an expert. I read the articles and pay attention to the advice given on FS. At the end of the day, we all have to find what works to best for ourselves. So far, the small changes list above have really helped me out. :)
