It was one of those nights. Awake at 3 AM to pee and then could not go back to sleep. It felt as though my RLS was about to kick in, and I was just hungry enough to know I would not go back without something in my stomach. So I had a 1/2 c of cheerios and about 1/4 c of milk. At 6 ish I went back to bed and slept until 0945. I really hate this when it happens but it often is in runs. I woke up at 3 Thursday and could go back to sleep. Last night no. I hope I can sleep so I can sing the anthem at church. One of the good things about being retired is I do not have to toss and turn if I can't sleep. I jut get up, read, and then go back to bed.

I have been following a 5 week 1000-1200 calorie diet from Physician's Healthy Weight Loss. Except for 2 or 3 meals I have followed the program strictly: 2 shakes and 3 snacks for a total of about 1200 calories. I am surprised how much I like this--and I am rarely hungry. I have also lost 10 lbs in the 5 weeks, so that is a huge weight loss for me.

I intend to keep going as much as I can with Dr Warren's program. My only concern is finding a way to decently record calories for the PHW friendly way he cooks. Tonight it was homemade pizza. First the crust is flatbread thin, then its toppings were broccoli and onions. The other pizza had some red sauce on it and atop that was some bacon and black olives. Between the 2 flatbreads I doubt if he used 1/4 c of cheese.

The same with the one piece of bread I had today. Jim makes almost all the bread in this house and his rye bread is the real deal European rye. One of his recipes requires the souring rye kernels to ferment for a full 24 hours. It is much loved in our house of Scandinavian heritage. So I just did the best I could . Someday I will sit down with a serious data base and try to work out the calories per serving on the bread, pizza, and his tomato soup, which takes no milk or cream.

What I did not do well was exercise. It is windy and bitterly cold here in southern Maine. Winds of 45 mph.

Yesterday I got the contract by email from the audio company that will record and sell my book. If this had happen 4 years ago I would have been pleased. But now the book has been out for 5 years and seems to have gained new life! Yeah!
