As of 1pm today I'm into day 3 of healing fast. Been able to do some more walking and knee is feeling OK. More tough love for fasting as my neighbors had an excess of cooked fresh blue crabs to share so I picked and froze them without tasting:) Looks like this fast so far has been all about foods I love being literally put in front of me like the universe checking to see if I'm serious about my fast this month. Which I am. So the crabs are in the freezer ready to pull out next week and enjoy along with the fresh figs I froze yesterday. Today I did get super tired - so I didn't do to much other than walks watching videos and having a lazy Saturday. And super hungry again. Want my gut to realize soon that it's not going to have anything but water for a while so stop grumbling already. Hope y'all are having a great weekend:)

On day 2 of water fast (for healing)- I started the fast yesterday around 1pm so it's over 24 hours. I think starting fast after lunch works better for me than starting after dinner. Wasn't as hungry today as I expected to be based on prior 2 fasts, so that's been great. And was amazingly able to resist the lure of fresh figs as I sliced and froze 1/3 of what I picked yesterday. 2 more trays to go. No WAY I'm gonna break this fast and waste all the effort of making it through day 1.

Kicking off my 3rd healing fast today. Had intended to begin fast as I finished dinner last night, so on cue I did not have breakfast today. Then got a call from my neighbor that his fig tree has ripe figs all over and to come pick them before it rains.
Well I filled 3 bins with figs and also ate about 15 - you know, to make sure they were perfectly ripe. So... not the start I'd planned, and not really in my eating realm at this time, but on the other hand it was delicious and made me smile. Prepping the rest to freeze and have begun water fast.

Eating from a very limited choice of foods for 3 days now and over last 5 days have increased to drinking about 3 L water daily as I attempt to get inflammation and pain more manageable.
Have been able to do some extra walking finally. Going slow and no pain during walks - taking 2/day - short - 1st day only 2080 paces total over 2 walks. 2nd day 2320 paces. Today will be day 3. Also been able to walk up 4 steps normally 2x/day - and slowly. Still have to go down steps modified.
Very happy about progress. Will continue with limited foods and the extra water and keep adding paces gradually. Biggest historical failures are from adding too much too soon and getting hurt. Biggest win will be putting my long term health ahead of my short term fun factor.
So no I will not be calling G to try SUP this week no matter how excited I am that I walked to the end of the block and back! And no I will not plan a whole day of sightseeing with A even though I want to. And i won't jump up and down yet even though I'm excited about being able to go up 4 steps without dragging one leg or holding the rail. I will let the excitement out gradually through smiles, being happy, and repeated triumphs.

Turning a bad day into good data. I ate stuff I wish I didn’t today.
Once I stopped being mad at myself, I considered why I wish I didn’t eat that stuff – what I’m committed to and why (in bio). So I’m looking to see where I got in my own way.
I wanted sugary stuff today. I ate a delicious breakfast about 650 cal, which is plenty I think, and included some fruit. So I’m not sure of the why, but I can think of a few structural things that can make a difference going forward.
I had a small dinner and large dessert last night out of sheer tiredness and poor timing so #1 will set up a quick easy well-designed dinner option and post it in the kitchen. Like tuna/avo/celery/carrot/onion/cheese/nuts – something I can quick prep if heading out the door w/out having to think or cook.
Also, I snacked from a hidden bag of candy that so far I’ve been able to resist – #2 am tossing it as well as a few other sugary items I really don’t need to be eating. I didn’t eat a full serving of it but really putting it away just made me want other sugary stuff so I pulled out a different and equally non-nutritious item next. Swedish fish, marshmallows, and all chocolate less than 85% are in trash now. Left only the snacks I like that don’t make me want to eat all the servings at once:)
#3 is the easiest – no coffee for me – I get sick every time I drink it and this time I’m also jittery - I guess since it’s been over a week since last coffee. Let hubby know all the coffee is now his. He will like that:) I had coffee because I had to toss my bone broth yesterday which is my favorite hot drink. I noticed the flavor had gotten off.
So #4 I will start freezing some of my broth so if it goes bad I’ve got another easy option. I put a reminder note in my colander for when I make broth.
Made adjustments to dinner plans to compensate somewhat. Turning a bad day into good data. Setbacks can happen. Playing for a healthy life, gonna’ win this game.
