2nd Journal for today: I need to rant! Good Heavens, what do you have to do to get some 'customer service' in this country?

Ok, last year round about Jan/Feb...hubby bought me my long awaited REFRIGERATOR...and we got a great deal w/ a dishwasher too...and a $100 Visa Gift Card REBATE!

Course you have to mail all that in...wait...processing...wait...ok, it came. I was happy. (this was sometime in late March / early April)

So, hubby put it aside on his desk, and said we would use it on vacation...which we did not.

I asked him about it prior to Christmas, as I was concerned it might run out after a year...so he gave it to me to use for shopping. Guess what ... it expired in JULY 2011.

HUH? 3 months? Really!!!! That seems wrong.

So I called the rebate center. Sorry!
Called Samsung. Sorry!
Called Lowes. Too Bad!

Well, I guess I have learned my lesson. Won't be shopping at Lowe's again. Will never buy another Samsung product. And being sucked into a rebate offer isn't worth the bother!

Should have gone shopping on day ONE!

Oh that is just wrong...they always have that info in the fine print where you have to have a magnifying glass to read...They are not worth for sure...So sorry...and you were in such a good mood earlier...:O(

How awful! And it was $100, too??!! Might try going into Lowe's and asking for a manager who would be (hopefully) more interested in keeping a customer, although they'd probably require that the $100 be used in their store. Wonder if there's any way Visa would restore the amount? Even for a small restoration fee, it would be worth it. With all the requirements and restrictions on rebates, they're actually becoming a deterrent to purchasing the item with a rebate! But I, too, would've had a really hard time passing up a $100 rebate along with a good price overall!

I hate scams like that! It seems that all businesses pull stunts like this in one way or another. Thanks for sharing though-think of it this way- you may have saved a reader the same frustration.

Oh, Paula...I am sooo sorry...wasn't that what you used to order your Fitbit? :( I would pitch a hissy fit and tell them I was going to make sure every single person I mentor online (and that's a lot) knows how these companies handle customer service. That is why I was so pleased with Fitbits customer service. Hugs, my friend!

Stef - it IS because of the quality of 'customer service' from Fitbit..that I made the decision to go for it!!! While in the ordering process, I went to put in the 'expiration date' on the credit card, and that's when I realized it said 07/11. AAAGGGHHH! Hubby said he wanted me to have it, so he said go ahead and order it on our regular credit card...so I did! ;) But that is the HOW I got to the start of this. Had several more conversations yesterday...a manager from Lowes called me back... they did nothing. Not even a store credit or a gift card to replace it, ... NOTHING! just 'sorry'...nothing we can do! I told them - Never again! And for those of you who know me, :) ... you know that means NEVER AGAIN will I shop at Lowe's or buy a Samsung product. I would much rather pay even $100 more to a locally owned Mom and Pop's store...than to give them my business or dollars again. They obviously don't care about our business to begin with. So - ok, my bad for not realizing this thing had an expiration date and when it was...but lessoned learned! CAN'T WAIT FOR MY FITBIT THOUGH!!! Hope it comes before the end of the week!!!
