Dear Bathroom Scale: Sorry to have been lying to you all these years. First, I couldn't bring myself to tell you about my regular midnight rendeavous with the refrigerator. But you knew. Sometimes in the wee hours of the morning I met the toaster for multiple slices. I guess you heard the pops, scraping sounds, and the sound of the opening of the lid of the jam jar. I am ashamed even to admit to myself that at work I sneaked away from my desk at least once a week to join John at his office for "just one" chocolate. (Everyone: John keeps a secret stash of expresso-filled chocolates in the second drawer). I allowed myself to believe John when he said that his homemade baklava was pure protein. I was willingly deceived by the whimsical, charming labels on bottles of locally brewed pale ales. They are so funny. Once, one slyly told: "Ha. Ha. Ha. You are not too fat, you are just too short for your weight." The clinking of glass silenced the quieter concerned voice that was warning me that when the laughs were over, alcohol converts to sugar to fill my veins and arteries, eventually settling as fat. I have been foolish to think I could hide anything from you. You have given me countless second chances. And, now, this morning after I thought you had vengefully turned away from me forever, you told me I was one pound lighter! My honesty seems to have re-opened your heart. We can move forward and through this new honesty bring this relationship to a new scale. (my FB post from June)

I banished my scales to the corner of the room as the lies it kept telling me were not acceptable!!!! Had to apologies to scales the other day as my jeans and skirts also started telling the same lies!!!!! Thats when i figured maybe i was being a little harsh on poor scales...... they are now back where they should be waiting to scream at me once a week :D

Many of my friends had a good laugh when I first posted my confession in June on my FB. Some were a bit embarrassed for me. I posted it along with a photo of my bare feet on the scale. I continue to update the post with a photo of my feet and the scale display. Only when there is progress downwards, of course.
