I'm still really frustrated with myself. My half marathon training is now coming to a halt... my shin splints have become so painful that I can barely walk. I knew this would happen.. It happened a few years ago, and I was hoping it would be different this time around. But I was wrong.
I'm going to take a week off from running, but still try to do other workouts with low-impact, like stationary bikes and ellipticals, and weight training.

In terms of weight, it has now been two weeks and 3 days since I've lost anything. Im trying so hard.. I count and record every single calorie I eat, and my weightloss has seemed to have come to a stand still. I'm choosing healthy options, I try to eat as little processed food as possible, and it's just not working anymore. very very frustrating.....

Sorry about the shin splints! Don't know anything about those as I am not into running. Hope you recover soon :) As for the being stuck, and the food issues... have you tried up'ing your protein some, and easing back on your carbs. Shoot for 100g's of carbs (in the healthiest forms, like veggies, berries, nuts, certain dairy, etc.) And maybe increasing your proteins by about 20g's/day. Give that a try for two weeks and see if it boosts your losses.

I suffered from really horrible shin splints just over a year ago, even jogging for 1/2 mile I'd be limping for a week. I made 2 changes that completely solved it. I started drinking 80 - 100oz of water a day and moved to barefoot running shoes. I've had ZERO shin pain after around 2 weeks of increased fluid and adjusting to the new shoes. I ran a 4 mile (http://www.kansascityzoorun.org/) in 46:46 on Sept 17 which, considering a year ago I couldn't go 1/2 mile, is incredible. I know that there are some different brands, but I've got 2 pair of the Vibrams. They look weird and took some time to adjust to, but I'll never go back to running in "normal" shoes. My faves are the KSO Treks, definitely a conversation starter! KL

thanks jsfantome! i'll definitely give that a shot. I think i'll start with eating some egg's for breakfast, rather than the toast and peanut butter. KL.. my brother switched to the vibrams, and he SWEARS by them. he never had shin splints, but he had all kinds of other foot issues. He couldn't run more than 1/2 mile without being in pain, and he just ran 20 miles the other day. I keep hearing better and better reviews about them... seems like I should give them a shot. and congratulations on your run!! you must be very proud :) keep it up!
