BGL @ 7:43 AM - 234

Well, I guess that pork chop last night was too much protein or I over-did it on carbs (25 grams TOTAL carbs). BGL is high again this morning. I am just at a loss. I am going to do an all fat day for a few days... 1-2 BPCs, an avocado (cause I have 3 in the fridge that need to be eaten) and just water the rest of the day. See if I can get this damn BGL to come down. If that doesn't work, I am going on a long-term (7-10 day) water, broth and tea fast. Something has to give here.

I just don't understand how some people can go on a Keto/LowCarb diet and their BGLs come way down and mine continue to remain high. I just feel like saying to hell with this and go back to eating bread because dammit I miss bread!

I am also going to give up the stevia for a few days because I am wondering if its sweetness is triggering my body to make more insulin in anticipation of carbs.

This should NOT be this hard! Dammit but it shouldn't!

(((hugs))) You will figure it out, hun! Beat your head a little if you must, and then refocus. What type of stevia do you use? It's a damn shame, but a lot of times they mix sugar (any ingredient ending in -OSE) in with it to give it a powder form.

Thanks BP3... yeah, it's the liquid because I already figured out that the powdered with maltodextrin in it raised my BGL. Now I am wondering if just the fact that it is sweet is tricking my brain and throwing out insulin.

Maybe so. I would also play around with the avocado. While it is very nutritious, I have read that it raises BGL in SOME people.

Yeah, that will be my next concern.. the avocado, but since I cannot afford to waste food, I am going to eat those 3 I already have ripened in the fridge. I really love them though and they are my main source for potassium right now. With my luck, I am probably so insulin resistant that everything but fat will trigger insulin production.

Sometimes it just takes other people's bodies a little bit longer to affect the change I was getting numbers in excess of 360 I even have a 280 fasting but seven months later I need to be very careful because I've gotten two numbers under 70 so the problem in the other direction yes I lost to like 60 pounds in 8 months you might try a little bit of walking if it is something you are able to do but the biggest thing is learning to be patient

Dang! So sorry you are battling the BGL. Our bodies are a mystery for sure. I've read that the sweetness prompts the pancreas to produce insulin which then promotes insulin resistance. I'm not much of an expert, but I have been cutting anything with a sweet flavor from my diet as much as possible. I've said a little prayer for you.

@Blkbear - thanks.. I needed to hear that! I just don't want to go back to my doc in January and have him be smug about my BGL not coming down as a result of the LCHF diet because he still contends that it will not help my numbers.

@Rhontique - it is definitely a mystery! I've done the BPC without stevia today and it isn't as bad tasting as I thought it would be! I added some cinnamon to help with the flavor. So far, BGLs are falling! Yes! So this sweetness thing may be a big issue for me.
