So tired of these high numbers with or without insulin... doing LCHF as strictly as I can and not see these lowering numbers everyone else sees.
I am going to force all this excessive insulin out of my body. Beginning today!
Day One of Week One Fast
I will be having:
1. Water, lots of water
2. Sea salt water, 1-2 times a day as needed
3. BLACK coffee, 1-2 cups
4. Green tea, 2-3 cups
That's it! Let's see how long I can make it without actual food and what it does to the insulin and BGLs. If Dr. Fung's theory is correct, I should show significant changes within a few days. According to him, as you fast, your body burns up the excess insulin, your BGLs go down and eventually you begin burning your own fat.
Edit: Holy cow! I am drinking BLACK coffee and I have not died from it *laughs* If anyone told me even two days ago that I would make it through one 16 oz cup of black coffee, let alone two, I would have laughed. But I am doing it! No cream, no stevia, no butter, no coconut oil.. just good ole black coffee. I am amazed even at myself!
In other news.. my BGL has gone up only 1 point. It is now at 174. I haven't taken any insulin today, but I am going to take the Janumet now.
Edit Two: Ha! My BGl has come down to 142 since I took the Janumet. Still fasting! It has now been 25 hrs since my last food meal and no BPC today either.
Edit Three: BGL is now down to 115... still no food, just water and black coffee... loving this!

Himalayan Salt is so awesome, isn't it? Black coffee is so hard... I've tried to drink it that way. I've tried imagining I'm hardcore like John Wayne sitting next to a campfire looking serious, but I just can't psyche myself into tolerating that stuff. LOL. You've definitely got the pioneer spirit! More power to you and good luck.

@7up - I love Himalayan salt! I used to use it all the time and then got an iodine deficiency because I was not using reg salt too, but I am wiser now *laughs* The black coffee still tastes weird, but I have developed a taste for bitter over the years from eating dark chocolate, so it isn't as bad as it would have been years ago. And thanks for the luck... so far, everything is going along quite well :)

@Ravyne - If all you're used to making/drinking is regular drip, even Keurig, next time you head out, treat yourself at a local coffee shop and order up a 'Americano'. It's just black coffee but made with 1/2 espresso (2 shots) and 1/2 hot water and truly tastes how black coffee should taste. I don't have the time or patience, nor the equipment to make one at home so I settle for drip but when I go out for coffee, it's always an Americano. There is another local shop that makes one with 4 shots of espresso instead of 2 and fills it the rest of the way up with drip coffee instead of hot water and it's called a 'Sludge'. It's an incredible kick in the butt to get ya going.

@Frosty.. thanks. I will give that a try if I am ever in a larger area. There are zero coffee shops where I live now, the closest is about 50 miles away. I do prefer espresso and have "dripped" it a few times. I prefer the taste. My dad is hooked on Maxwell House and it is all he buys. I am currently out of the espresso, so dealing with this rather bland tasting bitter coffee.
