Sorry that happened. I hope your innocent doggy will make a full recovery swiftly. It’s understandable you’re angry. It’s always a hopeless feeling when the ones we love, and try to protect, get hurt. And it’s not fair.

Aggressive dogs no matter what breed should never be allowed off leash! I am so sorry about your little dog, this should have never happened 😞

Do either of the properties have fences? I am confused; we have fences where I live, dogs will attack if they get anxious. sorry to hear about the pomeranian and the shorkie. 

If you have neighbour dogs and no fences, you need to introduce them. Doesn't matter how big or little. Doesn't matter if it's a pitt bull or a chihuahua; if they get anxious they'll bite. pitties are typically sweethearts, but scared of literally everything and often badly socialised as guard dogs. It's always a good idea to have them all make friends.  

Hi Bubbles. That particular Pit actually goes out of its way to hunt smaller dogs. Mine were never more than 2 feet from my front door. The Pit moves straight in from off the street and directly attacks without a pause. It's not about getting to know the other dog. It is deliberately aggressive whenever it is let out. It has never attacked people, but it has a long history of intentionally taking out other dogs. 

Orange County California, that dog would be history. What state do you live in? As an ER nurse I saw the results of the family pit bull ripping the face off of a 4 year old..unprovoked attack—- they were sitting together watching TV. They got the dog as a puppy when the little girl was born. They were inseparable, then out of blue he tore her face off. Sadly she died. 

Very few yards in my area have fences. My little dog never goes more than a 2 or 3 feet from my front door which is not visible from the neighbor's house, but the other dog is let out of its kennel without a leash. It immediately comes over looking for my dogs and tries to kill them while I am trying to get them back into the house. I got a hold of the Pit and started yelling for someone to help, because if I let go, the Pit would go directly from me back to attacking my dog. I couldn't let go even long enough to get my dog out of the way. It acts like it was specifically trained to attack other dogs while not going after people. 

Hi Kenna. I live in Illinois. They changed the law here so that they won't do anything about the aggressive dog unless it actually attacks a person. Someone has apparently decided that putting down an aggressive dog for attacking other dogs is abusive. 

Hi April. Cassie should be Okay physically, but she's spent the whole night cowering in a corner with her face against the wall. She's not trusting me, because I couldn't protect her and keep the other dog off of her. I'm not sure what I'll have to do if keeps on hiding from me. 

This is horrifying! The pit needs to be put down 😡 Sorry this happened. I’d research PTS after dog attacks. She does not trust you, you are right. Prayers!!!!

I'm so sorry this happened! My blue heeler and myself were attacked by a husky and put bull that had jumped a broken fence. She has pretty severe open tooth wounds on her pelvic area. It was awful! The attack happened because the male husky was not fixed. The pit bull was actually not as aggressive as the husky. When my dog finally got away, they chased her until she was raw on her paws. I wasn't attacked but it was traumatizing!A neighbor finally came out and was able to divert them long enough for us to get inside. When I called animal control they basically said it was my word against the owners and it was a civil case. The husky was not neutered because they were fostering it and got it during covid. I guess that part slipped thru the cracks ..( it happened in 2022) my dog will walk at the park but not around the block ..I hope you get better results than we did . 

Thanks for the sympathy Diana. The vet said my pup's wounds are not too deep, but he wants to leave them open to heal on their own so that the wounds can drain and stay clean. As for the trauma, she's been hiding in the corner and doesn't want to be picked up or held for any length of time, but she did come over to me this morning to get rubbed on while she stayed on the floor. I hoping it's a sign everything will be alright once she stops hurting enough to be held. She's always been nothing but spoiled and was just starting to get over her fear of going outside or trying new things. I expect this will set that back quite a bit.

Since she did come out on her own this morning, I'm letting her have her safe space and trying not to pick her up except when I have to to give her her meds. Praying she'll continue to reconnect with me when it no longer physically hurts so much to do so.
