Photo of the newborn taken from a safe distance, I see. Ever been charged?

JB yes I have. I bought a cow years ago and she was LOONEY!! She got out of the squeeze and kept running into the hot wire around the pasture. I was only able to catch and tag 2 of her calves. We would bring 3 four wheelers out and make a barrier but she’d go nuts and charge. I did not miss her when she went to the sale. That said, Big Red is a very nice animal. I had already approached the calf earlier and she trotted over to keep an eye on things but wasn’t aggressive, just assertive.

Perhaps bring a gift for mama cow next birthday? Like a baby shower. Mothers appreciate that kind of thing. 

I did bring treats, she wouldn’t approach me for an apple or cucumber though.  

How many calories?

Love this time of year. Look at that green grass in the background. Ready to see some of that! 

Brings back memories of my grandparents farm. We always wanted to pet those new calves, but their mamas weren't having any of that. 

Beautiful mama and calf but look at that dark sky...🌧️🌧️🌧️ 

Last spring all that dead tall stuff around them was a dark green and very thick. It would take me a long time to find where momma hid her calf in that tall mustard. I am so happy it didn’t come back this year.

My sister raised her calf after her momma fell in a ditch. In the big herd of cows we would go out on her 4 wheeler and she would yell Tiny Tin Tiny and this big 1000 lb. Cow would lift up her head and start running towards us. I thought I was goons die. She stopped in front of my sis and waited for her head scratch and treat. Unbelievable  

Sarafinia that is a cool story. I am trying to get the cows to relax more around me. I have three that will approach me but they are only looking for treats. If I don’t have an apple for them they give me attitude. They toss their head to the side in disgust and walk away. I have a calf that will walk up to me to get its head scratched. Cheese, no name yet. I am 70% sure it’s a boy, I haven’t been able to get that close to confirm, and didn’t get a chance to go out at all yesterday.
