Looks great. I'm a legumaphile and always have a bucket of the "legume of the week" in my fridge to incorporate into almost anything. This week its small red beans - almost gone now. 

hahahaaahhha (legumaphile) ... for me - this week should be all about lentils. 

Almost looks like lentils but the only legumes in this are garbonzo beans and cannnellini beans. It's color comes from making a dark roux to thicken the "gumbo" then I also added cocoa powder and gumbo filé. 

Coco powder, mole-esque! I would eat that!. I'd also add a healthy dose of crushed red pepper for heat. 

Was the nectarine good? Perhaps it was from South America. 

The nectarines are from Chile, and very sweet. I like to add either crushed red peppers or some home dried and crushed habeneros which add a LOT more heat. But my family will only eat extra mild food, so I definitely have to add it separately to my own instead of cooking it in. But I didn't add any (other than crushed black peppercorns) to this "gumbo".
