I've been reading and hearing recently about this idea of intuitive eating, aka EATING WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY, STOPPING WHEN YOU'RE FULL! It sounds too simple, too painless...yet for me it's challenging! I have spent so many years eating too much when I'm not hungry, out of boredom or habit. Since I've been focusing on my weight I have tried everything, from eating small meals every few hours to obsessing over calories and eating as little as possible. None of these 'eating plans' ever made me feel like I had a healthy relationship with food. I am finding that the more I concentrate on losing weight and sticking to a diet, the more dysfunctional my relationship with food becomes. So, as novel as it sounds, I have decided to stop the obsession and just listen to what my body tells me. I am very hopeful that this philosophy will give me a sense of freedom and empowerment, and help me learn to trust myself and my own body!
