All of you are doing so great and I am flunking out so fast. What ever will power I had is totally gone. Here I have my beautiful new home/apartment and sober to boot.

It’s going on a month now that I quit smoking and my weight has gone up off the charts. I’m the problem not the food.

So I’m gona try again today and be vigilant with my calories and my physical activity. Thank you Fat Secret Family for all your support

Clair today is my first day. I was told by the cardiologist yesterday that I am in full AFib. I have to get the weight off on 1,200 calories a day and exercise daily before I can get anything done to get back in normal sinus rhythm. I just turned 69 and I weigh 270. I am just doing one meal at a time and one walk on the Catwalk at a time. We can do this. Keep getting up and moving forward.

one thing at a time! quitting smoking is no small feat, and neither is quitting drinking. I know because I've done both as well. they're processes and you are never totally out of the woods ; one slip up and you're right back where you started! be kind to yourself and show yourself some compassion. diet and exercise is the next challenge to face, and is really the adoption of a healthy daily routine more than it is a thing that needs to be done. just as your days are smoke and alcohol free, now they simply need to be junk and excess snacks free with some resistance training thrown in. one day at a time and if you slip up just keep going and don't slip up two days in a row. everything gets easy eventually and everything is hard at first. show yourself some love and watch yourself slowly transform!

So proud of you for quitting smoking. It is such a gross habit that I, too, had for many years! Congrats to you! Keep trying!!

I've found finding myself accountable for anything I eat on here is helping a lot. I haven't been tempted because I know is have to log it.

That hand to mouth habit its a tough one. Focus on the staying quit smoking first. Distract yourself like if you go to eat choose to push it off a few minutes by doing something else. Dieting is similar to quitting smoking really. Be kind to you. Watch that self talk! You are the best version of you that exists! Give yourself credit too.

I have found it helpful to change my mindset from what I can’t eat/on a diet to what I can eat that I enjoy. Then when I take a bite, I can truly say this is delicious!

don't beat yourself up. it's not you it's the smoking. I did research because I quit using snuff a few months back. nicotine is a stimulant so your metabolism is on fire it's also an appetite suppressant and a diuretic. I was able to eat 3000 calories a day using a can of dip a day. now I'm at 2600 to maintain and when I quit I put on 7 pounds of water in a week. just stay the course it will level out.

oh yeah and for about a month I was ravenously hungry and ate everything in sight sometimes 4500 calories a day.

So, it sounds like just recently, you’ve had 3 major changes; apartment, sobriety and smoking. Give yourself a break. Find a routine and make the necessary changes when you are able. Even if it starts with saying no to one “treat” a day. You’ll find your way. I don’t know if you’re in AA for your sobriety, but you can use the steps for your food too.

Excellent work! Took me 9 (NINE!) attempts to quit smoking cigarettes. Another 30 years to kick cigars, booze, dip, disordered women and fatness.
