So, I seem to be stuck between 1400-1600 calories lately. I am still assuming this is hormone related with the new med and will even out- since I've never had this much trouble limiting my calorie intake befor. My lungs have been doing very well though, so yesterday I decided to try and offset the calories with exercise. I biked for half an hour 4 times yesterday. 2hrs total and enough calories to keep me at a 500 calorie deficit for the day. Woot! Surprisingly my legs never even hurt. I even had the resistance back up on the higher notch again.

You know what does hurt? My abs! I was reading Euheide's journal about ab workout and was like... you know what I never want to get? A hernia... maybe I should strengthen my abs a bit, just in case that could help (idk if it can or can't, but it seems logical). So I did 50 crunches and felt fine... until this morning. Oh man my abs are protesting seriously. Still did another 50 crunches this morning, hopefully my abs get use to it soon, lol.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Happy Mother's Day!

What's especially confusing is that, on the internet, some people will swear by recovery times such as an entire week (since recovery may involve more than just the muscles themselves, like the Central Nervous system, etc), while many other sources say 24 hours is enough time for most muscles to recover. It's very very confusing lol.

Lately I talked to a friend who even said he worked out every single day and he has this great physique and I was like - What?!?! Did you say every single day?! - And he was like - Yeah! - I I asked him - But do you take every set to failure? - And he said he didn't, so I guess there's also a relation there between intensity and more or less recovery time heheh :)

I would agree with that. I don't ever go until I can't. I go until I start to feel uncomfortable and then take it to a round 0 or 5 number (so if breathing gets a little rough in the 25th minute I'll stop at 30 minutes, if my abs start to feel a bit iffy on the 47nth crunch I'll end at 50- etc). I've gotten sore but never felt like I couldn't do it the next day again, despite soreness (lung flares excepted of course). I just continue the same trend til I can move into a a new group of five or zero. Right now I'm on 60 crunches and 20 pushups. Could I go to 50non pushups... probably, but I doubt I'd enjoy it, same with 100 on crunches atm. I am pretty confident I *could* do either and beyond if I wanted to, but I'd rather work ul to it staying in a physically comfortable zone. I guess I'm not really a believer in 'no pain no gain' lol.

That's an interesting technique! :) Wow! 20 pushups! You're almost catching me! lol. I really dislike the "no pain no game" motto but sometimes I have doubts lol. There are also some people on the internet who will swear you have to do every exercise till you are to exhausted you will drop to the floor. I wish there was just a single truth lol. But I definitely prefer the same approach as you do! heheheh :)

I'm sure those people build their reps much faster.. I'll stick to this way though ;-) I'm thinking it's the difference in preference between steady and controlled or fast and furious. Or maybe long term planning versus instant gratification. There really isn't anything wrong with either choice, it's just personal preference- different people thinking a different way is 'best' from their view point.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but, even going fast and furious, I'm usually slow to get results lol. I usually get about the same results regardless heheheh. So I might as well take the "steady and controlled approach" ;)
