Don't take this journey on a day to day basis my buddy... it could be the salt, how much total Kcals did you eat? did you exercise a lot? are you stressed over anything? when did you last did number2? did you drink alcohol? *** the human body is sadly enough not very easy to read, but look at it over the course of a week... not a day!

Sodium? I've also seen where people said here that too much protein can be stored as sugars in the body, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on that. I also look at myself in a week, not individual days. I did a 5K on both Saturday and on Sunday, and when the adrenalin wore off I was famished, plus my muscles were retaining water - the scale didn't look good both those days. But today is looking better - the only weight that counts is Friday when I go to WW.

It is so discouraging when it takes that big of a leap for no apparent reason. Will try again today...
Salt seemed very high yesterday so maybe that is it.
Went shopping with hubby and daughter, so did a lot of walking with a purpose.
Stressed over everything in my life right now...shoulder was very sore last night...maybe some swelling from that?
Went number two while shopping...walking makes that happen for me.
Don't drink alcohol. I can count on my ten fingers the number of times I have had alcoholic beverage in the last 3 years.
Did I mention I will try again today...starting out by adding fruit to my breakfast. 6 lovely strawberries waiting in a plastic baggie for me on my desk. Next to my caffeine infused water bottle so I can accomplish something today.
Have an appointment with a customer this afternoon. That will get me up and moving away from the computer. That is a good thing!

everyday is a new start, you go for it! and i could see 4 reasons for you to gain some weight hence the 4lb (*lol*) *** erwinwarrior83: all macro's (fat, protein, carb) can and will be stored in your body if you eat to much of them. What makes protein so special is that it is the only building block your muscles uses to grow.

Our bodies seem to rebel sometimes. It takes the body a few days to reflect our efforts sometimes. So many factors can contribute to that blasted number on the scale. Just roll with it! It will eventually catch up.

Sodium is definitely a huge contributor to quick bursts in weight gain. I think the recommended daily intake is less than 1500mg which is hardly any. It adds up quick and causes lots of water retention. Dont lose hope! Just keep an eye on your data and you will find the solution!

Personally...I notice a 3-day lag before my eating reflects any change on the scale. Don't look at yesterdays calories to reflect your #s on the scale today. Now, look ahead to seeing the rewards for any disciplined eating.

OK I will try to be patient (which is NOT my strong suit)and while I am patiently waiting I will watch my sodium and try to keep up the protein! Then I will see what happens in a few days :?
I know I have to increase my activity level as well...now that there is currently no snow...but cold enough for snow...I will have to figure that out. I can't wait until I can be out in my gardens! Yesterday hubby and I bought some dinner plate dahlia bulbs. Going to get them started in the house so they bloom earlier than they did last year.

Maybe try baking the fish with no flour and oil and eat beans or something similar instead of hash browns. I've heard white potatoes are not good at all. You could try sweet potatoes. But me personally, I wouldn't be able to eat those without the butter and brown sugar. :)

KMUNSON,If you are focusing on *doing* the things it takes to reach your goals,your goals *will* be reached. How do I know that? Because of "cause & effect". The same is true if we dont do what we need to do,we wont reach our goals. So think about the time limit you have set. If you *are doing* what you need to be doing to reach your goals BUT you wont be able to meet them by your time limit,*maybe* your time limit isn't realistic & needs to re-set or dropped entirely. Just a thought.:D

I have been at this long enough (almost exactly a year) to know what I can and cannot get by with. Not Noahs Mommma I don't think it is the potatoes because I have eaten them before and not gained but thanks for the input! I think I am pointing to the fish because to date I haven't eaten that much at one sitting before. I also have fried them in the past and lost weight. I thought eating more for low calories would be a good thing...particularly with increasing my protein. Perhaps it was just the combination. myawethingTICself I have been working on my weight for almost a year and I have reached the amount I had to lose before in the time that I had allowed myself. This time with the unexpected gain is what threw me off. I know that I have in the past lost 8lbs in 10 days. This time I was trying for 8lbs in 19 days. I thought I had factored in that being lighter it would be harder to lose as much as quickly. But now to add the additional 5lbs I went up in one day means I would have to lose 13lbs now in 15 days. That is where this got so discouraging. I had set an attainable goal at the time the goal was set. I still don't know what changed that caused the overnight ballooning...which is what I was looking for answers for.

Well the only thing I can say is, I am very happy that you are not giving up. I can understand the discouraging part of it. Things will work out for you when you least expect it to. Keep up the great job

My mistake KMUNSON,my reading of it("I don't know what to do anymore... nothing seems to be working") made me think you were asking for suggestions. I wasn't implying that you didn't know what you were doing,just trying to be helpful.We can't change the fact that there was "overnight ballooning" BUT we *can* change deadlines that have been set & still reach our goals.And *reaching our goals* is what matters *regardless* the time it takes,IMO. Please forgive me if I offended you.It was not my intent.

Well hey there beautiful, have you tried sacrificing a billy goat to the weight loss gods? lol Sometimes I think I might go that far if I thought it would work. You know the answer to your own question, and that is to be patient and trust the process. Regardless of what your goals might be we can only do what we can do in a given a time frame, dont be discouraged. You have lost before, you will lose again. Chin up and have a good day <3

Protein + starch = weight gain. We should try to pair protein with greens only on the same serving. Potatoes are good, but they should also be paired with greens only.

I only eat my protein with starches, 24/7 3.6.5 ... lol im just a meat and potatoes kind of girl. Sorry AilaOne, I would have to disagree with you.

I bought a lot of Pollock because it was cheap, but it only went towards my protein. Now all I eat is wild caught salmon grilled.
