Well, today is my first official day trying Keto and it's going to be extra difficult because my boyfriend's sister decided to have the whole family get together at a Chinese buffet tonight.., so I'm not going to avoid the situation, because normally I would either avoid it or delay my start of my new diet plan.., no, not this time. What I'm going to do is, since I'm still educating myself about what I'm doing, I'm going to bring some reminder/cheat notes of what I can vs what I can't have, and enjoy the evening as well as I can.

They usually have good meat and veggie options. I like to order pork spareribs just for myself. That makes avoiding the shared off plan dishes easier. Good luck with it.

Just remember portions. Peel and eat Shrimp , broccoli ,skewered meat, baked salmon are good choices. Skip all breaded or things in won ton wraps. Soups have corn starch thickening as does all the meat and veggies. If u gain it will be from salt. It will return to normal. Drink lots of water with lemon. Eat slowly and enjoy the company.

And you don't have to deprive yourself, they have veggies, lots of meats (not in sauces), baked fish (even if in butter--it's good) as long as not breaded, I totally get the fear of screwing--I am the queen of that :) Wish you the best. Weight loss requires patience and it's about developing habits. It is okay to incorporate changes little by little. For instance, you can slowly decreasing carbs. I follow DASH way of eating and I haven't gone full on. Developing a new habit gradually. It feel less urgent and overwhelming. Congratulations on the new start!!! Enjoy time with your family.

start tomorrow, Chinese buffet is IMPOSSIBLE to do keto. it's gonna take you 3 days to get into ketosis. start without the pressure of the family and buffet. I'm 1+ years keto and will never go back. it took me about 4 Months till out was "my normal" way of eating. now it's easier than anything! be strong and read up on adding lite salt for oppression potassium and sodium and adding magnesium. count your carbs. enjoy!

The great part about the buffet (even tho i am too OCD for them myself) is that they offer so much more. If the seafood looks fresh go for the steamed fish, sashimi, shrimp, steamed veg and you'll be keto friendly. Avoid the saucy type foods as there is usually a lot of sugar in the sauces. OR, just eat mindfully and not over eat and then move onto the next day. Enjoy your family.

Your creamer has a lot of carbs. Maybe go with real cream

Meat, veggies and plenty of water. The hibachi section has the freshest foods without the carb drenched sauces and thickening agents. There should be plenty of salad fixings and fresh fruit for any sugar cravings. You've got this🙋
