Well, I'm sitting here thinking about what foods to have for Father's Day dinner, etc. None of it will be good for me, I'm sure!! Somehow, I think my husband wants to know I'm willing to eat too many carbs as my way of honoring him! LOL! Kimbulie, your thoughts on a planned treat day are right down this same road. So, while he is out of town yesterday and today, and I've been really GOOD, I'm facing disaster by Sunday (if not Saturday night!) No, one day is not a huge problem . . . but then it seems there are so MANY excuses I can use for treat days! I don't have to enumerate them here -- we all know what I'm talking about. I guess the trick is to not make every single birthday or holiday into an exception that eventually undermines our efforts. Once in a while is good for the soul, but we also need to know we can get through some of those events with a good plan! "Plan the work, and work the plan!" Hmmm. Gotta buy more margarita mix!

You're the second person that has mentioned margaritas, STOP THE MADNESS! Oooooh, I miss them. Had dinner with friends at a mexican place last week or the week before and they have THE best margaritas. I, of course, didn't have them. You've already recovered from your vacay at are at goal so go right ahead! Hope you enjoy the carb fest on Sunday.

That's the thing! You get too many opportunities to have treat days and then evey day becomes one. You're at goal weight so once a month won't hurt you, for your sanity. Good luck! :)

Such a thoughtful journal!! It's so true. We give ourselves permission and then sometimes think that mean a free for all! What I'm working on doing is going to an event and deciding on ONE cheat. Not all day. Just one. If it's a birthday, I'll try to have the cake, but eat well the rest of the day. But it's hard. Good luck!! And I think your talking about it will help you get right back into it - so have fun and don't fret it too much!

For me, treats aren't really an issue because they aren't treats. Does that make sense? I've conditioned myself that I don't eat that crap and I think it's disgusting. And now, I really feel that way. Sugar is horrible, (the taste that is) I can't eat stuff with sugar in it and I don't use the splenda stuff. It just didn't make sense to me that a new way of eating would include ways to imitate my old way of eating. So I went new for real. Maybe it would help cut down on "treats" if you re-evaluate what a real "treat" is for you. Try to just pick one or two things to be your treat, and mentally steal yourself to hate the other crap. ;) If you can do that, it's a lot less stressful. The problem with too many treats is, as you know, that you have them too often, and then it's not a treat, it's disaster. Hang in there girlie! =) Cheryl

I DO understand about how you can adjust your mind to hate bad foods, Cheryl, though I'm not as vehement as you sound! LOL!! I guess I can just look at a bagel or brownies now and be neutral toward them -- instead of having the monkey on my back making me think I've just gotta have one! I also have come to know they REALLY AREN'T going to taste as good as they look. MOST of the time, my treats are things like raspberries or blueberries with cream, but I just can't tell myself I'll never have another baked potato ever!! :-)

ohhhhh "never" and "ever" are very dramatic words to simpleton like me so I'm just gonna say that iffin ya have 50 steps forward - can't ya just have one tweeny weeny step back every now and then, grins, gramn - you're a pure wonder so y'are and I hope that your weekend was delicious - whatever happened... keep up the inspirational work... *s*
