This seems to be a pattern of mine--
to go up before a good downward number.

For decades this was something that bother me a great deal. I did everything I could think of to learn the right way to lose weight as my entire family was eventually morbidly obese. I worked at diet centers and as a counselor I saw the same pattern with many women who were probably naturally overweight. I've come to understand there are so many factors to tip the scales even when or especially when you're doing your very best. since I've been studying here one explanation is as you lose fat the fat cell has to replace the volume with water weight until it gets flushed out in the normal process of excretion. thus the recommendation to to drink lots of water now makes more sense. we've always heard salt is a contributing factor as well. it is my belief that women because of there difference in fat stores are significantly different than men in these two regards.
