Happy Friday to the community! Going to unwind a bit by traveling to Las Vegas today. Hope, I will be fine with the 230 mile drive. Have come to realize the deep divide between city people and rural America. Now, the complaints are about the electoral system. Didn't realize, that by population, California could have 199 electoral votes versus their 55. Why Hillary won the popular vote by over 250k. Also, didn't know, that 13 states have changed their system through legislation. Electoral college won't change until all 50 states also change, but that won't happen. Republicans LOVE their advantage. Have a great day, everyone!

Wishing you safe travels and lots of fun in Vegas. The electoral college was okay I suppose when the communications systems were in their infancy. But in todays world it is a dinosaur that needs to go extinct.

Yep, Rhontique, this was a major discussion point yesterday, as small states in the Midwest and East have real advantages to their vote. Like their votes really count two, three, or four times what other states count. The system is terrible. It was made and kept from the late 1800's.

Keep in mind also, Warren. That a few years ago, the illegal immigrants in Texas started being considered as part of the population to raise the number of Electoral Votes, although these people have no right to vote. This is the 5th time in history the popular vote was ignored and another placed in office instead.

Christians are required by Gods word to pray for their leaders, who ever they are. When it was Obama against our wishes, we prayed for him. The Christians in China are required to pray for their un-elected leader even while that government is coming against the church because of their fears. Why is it that the majority of the democratic party wants to cry and complain and protest? Are they not Christian? Or are they Christian but do not understand Gods decrees? Why don't we come together as a nation and pray for wise decision making by those who are elected and to remove fear that is running rampant? Do we not believe that God can change things for the better? Or are we no longer a Godly nation, but only Godly Christians in a nation who has renounced him?

My simple question is you are a Christian like you say. Would Christ be proud of Trumps words? Better go to church some more and listen closer.

Thanks for your comments. I have actually spent a good portion of my life in church. Enough to know Christ was truly an advocate of the poor and disadvantaged. I doubt he would advocate separating people from their families, and shipping them off or jailing them, in their plight to find a decent life. We are all from other countries originally, and the Indians, who were here first, we raped, pillaged, and killed, and gave survivors alcohol, which devastated them for generations.

I did quite a bit of missionary work in Mexico. I built small shacks for the poor there. I saw incredible poverty, yet was always surprised what wonderful people I was working for. I also met some families, that remained in devastating poverty because they refuse to cross the border and break the law. These were the people I had most sympathy for. What I saw really hurt me.

I doubt that He would advocate the killing of unborn babies!

No one likes abortion. I was just reading how homeless women here are getting raped. If this happens, should they carry the baby to term, or if they have life threatening pregnancy, should the mother die in the process. Abortion most likely will be unlawful now. Women's rights will NEVER be the same, and the government will have full control of their bodies.

I don't want to get into politics or religion. I just want to say how much I admire you, Warren, for helping the poor people of Mexico. I'm sure they were so grateful. Bless you.

Nor would He advocate throwing the new born to the wolves which is tantamount to what happens in a lot of cases. Don't pretend that pro-birth is the same as pro-life.

"Don't pretend that pro-birth is the same as pro-life." - clearly! especially when said right after saying getting rid of all them thar 'illegals'

Agreed, as always, Phil! I have decided to evaluate his policies on a one to ten as to palatable. He is very bad on environment, but let's face facts. This planet is doomed. Keystone Pipeline will just collapse gas prices, so I could care less. It is environmentally bad, though. Sitting here eating breakfast at Peggy Sues Diner outside of Barstow, California.

Disliking Trump doesn't automatically equate liking Clinton....

Thanks Doobrie! Politics has changed me as a person. I won't get into it, but I have a Bill Maher type of belief about religion now, which is kind of too bad. I'm not as forgiving about the good of religion.

If Hillary had won, there would be no argument that the current system had ushered in a fascist. However, now that it has occurred, that flaw has been glaringly laid bare. The discussion we are having now is not the same discussion we would have had if a Bush, Kasich, Rubio, etc. had been elected. Prominent, responsible, educated, experienced, highly esteemed and ranking Republicans of good conscience stood up, spoke out, and voted against Trump because this is dangerous for our country. History does not look kindly upon societies that usher in fascist leaders, and our constitutional mechanisms have not protected us from going down that uncivil road. We are Americans first, and many of us would have voted for a non-fascist Republican candidate over Donald Trump had the situation been reversed.

Ok, I had to look up Bill Maher on Wiki as I'd never heard of him. However, I'm with you there.

I'm not pessimistic about Trump. I think he TRULY is a deplorable human being, but I'm a white Christian man, so I know I'm insulated from any negative effects. I do worry about the future for my daughter. Flypaper2222, what the real deal IS and what I would have been pleased as punch about IS if Obama Democrats had turned out and delivered the presidency to Hillary Clinton. That didn't happen, it's OUR fault, I did my part and voted but millions of Obama Democrats stayed home, to wit; 2008 Obama won 69,498,516 to John McCain's 59,948,323. In 2012 Obama won 65,915,795 to Romney's 60,933,504. Donald Trump won the election, but lost the popular vote with 60,171,232 to Hillary Clinton's 60,633,503. Look at the numbers, they've stayed fairly consistent for the Republican candidate, but are MILLIONS less for the Democratic candidate. This was no Trump Mandate, it was a failure to turn out the Democratic vote.
