A most wonderful end of the work week on this Friday to all FatSecret followers. I'm feeling very blessed for the progress of my left knee. I wish to set a date of maybe June first, to really start some treadmill work with the idea of monitoring my progress, and assessing pain from workouts. I will continue to get more walking in, and maybe lifting and upper body work. After all I will be 66 in January. What are those darling frowny-faced babies? Wishing you the greatest luck with your knee improvement. Is it arthritis or an injury? (You probably said and I have forgotten.) I have a friend who had bone-on-bone knee situation and has tried stem cell therapy. It isn't a piece of cake (neither is a replacement) but it is working. At 51 she's considered too young for a knee replacement.

I had both knees replaced and the right knee twice. I can give you any info you need.

Trackin, I think it is both arthritis, and I strained it bad running. Stem cell sounds interesting.

They take cells from your own body and culture them, then inject them into the knee. They then continue to grow cartilage there. There is no down time but some swelling and pain. You cannot, however, take pain pills or apply hot/cold packs! I think alcohol is also forbidden for a time. If you want to know more about my friend's experience with this I can probably get her to email with you about it. She had both knees done and one did better than the other. The doc is redoing the one that didn't respond as well at no extra charge. He apparently made an error with that one and overdid the injection.
