Who will take care of the children? 

Hi Ancient. That is an excellent question. Husbands Mom closed up her life in CA and moved in with the boys in MN. My grandson who is not blood to her does not care for her at all and does not want her to be Legal Guardian. He will be 17 in March. We live 2.5 hours away from the city in Mpls so he would not come here. Too quiet, distant and would miss his half brother. It is very challenging. Plus she pays for his schooling which is huge...So challenging times to say the least. There is a good support system for the boys and I am trying to get the Grandma to get counseling for herself too as well as the boys. She is a therapist but needs her own through all of this loss she is going through. Thank you for your concern.  

Prayers and well wishes sent to you during what sounds like trying times. I'm glad that you're still working to improve while also helping & being there for them. 

Family therapy would be good for all of them.

AncientHippie...funny. The grandma that is trying to help but making it worse is a therapist. I recommended for her and the boys to get therapy. I have heard nothing back from her or anyone from the house since I came home to WI on the 9th of Feb.  

I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter. It's not going to change anything but I'm sorry all the same. of course sorry for your son-in-law's loss as well but of course your daughter will hold a special place in your heart that no one would ever replace and therefore I felt should be mentioned first and separately as such. I'm sorry the children have had to go through this of course nobody is ready for the death of a parent I know that I wasn't and I lost my dad just this last year and I'm 38 now certainly no tender age of 17. It is my hope that the situation can be resolved with the least amount of stress for all parties involved. I also hope that even though she may not be the person that he likes or wants to be around that he understands that some people show their love through monetary means and although that's not the same as emotional love that is their way of expressing their love. it doesn't take the place of emotional love but it doesn't mean it should be discounted or dismissed.
