im having a hard time losing weight. i crave carbs. in the keto book it says the carb cravings go away. i crave carbs at least once a day. maybe i need to exercise more or have more will power & i saw someone post wen they get carb cravings just fill up on something else. i need to lose this fat! so frustrated at myself. im wondering if it could be my mental illnessex. emotional eating

Eat fat: divide a slice of cheese into 4 squares; place on a piece of parchment paper and put in microwave for 1 minute. Cheese Crackers. Or eat 1/2 avocado sprinkled with sea salt. Or put 15 (1 serving) original full fat pepperoni on a paper plate, microwave about 1 minute and you will have pepperoni chips - eat with 1/4-1/2 avocado YUM. When hungry on Keto, up your fat.

Hang in there! If you add exercise, that is a good thing. Also, keep track of calories too and think of how you are taking care of yourself by trying to eat healthier!

Have you tried fat bombs? I make a snickerdoodle fat bomb that helped me get past the cravings for carbs. I use swerve as a sweetener. The far keeps me on track, the sweet soothes the craving.

Water water water...consume lots of water....I crave the same thing, but I find myself drinking water with lemon when this happens...you can do this

There could very well be an emotional component to the cravings. Perhaps take a look at what is going on around you that might be triggering them. For me, being mindful at those times and asking myself 'why do you want to eat or eat that?' helps put things in perspective and keep the desire in check. Exercise for sure (the release of endorphins from it) will also help in my experience. Also as Butterfliesrfree said, eating good fats can also help. Don't beat yourself up. This <bleep> is <bleeping hard>. You are asking good questions and, IMO, should be proud of yourself for that.

I find that having just one piece of gum takes the sugar/sweet/carb craving away. Try it.

How many carbs can you have in a day? I'm not on Keto, but avoid bread, pasta, cereal for the most part. I started having 1/4 of a bagel with cream cheese just so it doesn't feel so much like a diet. I think it's only 10-12 carb grams.

try drinking more water and adding a little more fat to your food. keeps you fuller longer.. just a thought :)

Yes, the carb cravings do go away for some people and lessen somewhat for others. Besides extra no calorie liquids, tree nuts (under an ounce) a day will quell some cravings. Upping fat, as already mentioned, does help too with keep yourself from being hungry. Carb cravings are real. Find something else to concentrate on like a good movie, book, hobby, online games, exercise, pet, etc. Whatever works for you.

Yes it seems like they are going away. I havent succumbed to it all day. I had one fleeting craving & tried cooking the cheese on parchment paper & all it did was melt & stick to the paper. Lol. I guess i was hard on myself as i just started this keto diet. Thanks everyone for the support
