I'm so glad we had a few last nice days before the snow hit the valley. Painting the back door has been on my to do list since mid summer. Finally got it done. Hubs just needs to change out the hardware. I like how it turned out.
I guess we're ready for winter. We covered all the patio furniture and grill, moved and stacked little bales, and moved and stacked the extra bags of soil and mulch. The garden is cleaned and ready for next spring. And my wrist ached all night. Wonder why!
Busy day today. Have to go into town. Bought new snow tires for my car so those need to be put on. Hubby has an appointment to see if he needs to stay on his cPap machine.
My weight is slowly creeping down even though I haven't been logging food intake. I'll be tested in the next few weeks as my birthday is coming up. My college roommate's birthday is 6 days before mine. She is coming over for lunch next week. Then my best high school friend and work friends are taking me out. Three lunches in as many weeks and then it will be Thanksgiving.

Granddaughter as Maleficient for Halloween. She's a cutie. So many have told her dad that the boys will be standing in line to date her. She has her first middle school dance in a few weeks. We'll see how it goes.
My son found the puppy at the Humane Shelter. Was told someone dropped him off. His girlfriend doesn't want any such drama as we had 2 years ago, so she sold him. Apparently people want that breed. I still think the whole thing is suspicious. So if we can prove the renter broke into the house and took the puppy, he's gone.

It was a year ago today that the saga of the menacing renter ended when the SWAT team hauled his ass to jail. He was sentenced to 42 years. Only issue is my sister works at the prison he's been sent to. The DOC is looking into moving him.
We went to dinner to celebrate our youngest son's birthday. At dinner, our eldest son said the renter on the east side called the sheriff over his girlfriend's dog. Said the puppy is scary to his kids. The sheriff said there is a city ordinance about dogs at large. We are no where near the city limits and the dog has over 15 acres as his yard, but has never wandered. When our son returned home, the back door was wide open and the puppy gone. I don't know what breed the puppy is, but I know he's an unusual breed and our son's girlfriend paid more money than I ever would for this puppy. They drove the fields looking for the puppy, but it's difficult to cover our land. I'm thinking October may not be our month. Thankfully there's only 2 days left in the month. I hope that puppy is okay. He has a sweet personality and the grandkids will be heartbroken. They still miss their St Bernard puppy that died.

I finished making cascading waterfall Halloween cards for the grandkids. I have two birthday cards to finish tomorrow. We have three birthdays the last week of October.
Our trip was a nice get away. Except for the drive home. There was a raging blizzard on the last mountain pass. Am glad to be home.

Down a little bit of weight. Not much, but I'll take it. I'm thankful as I haven't been food journaling. Just been busy. Lots to do before the snow flies.
Now that the cattle have shipped, I have time to do other things. Helped my granddaughter make her first lemon meringue pie. We'll tackle pie crust later. Or maybe never. I have never enjoyed making pie dough. I'll spend hours making cookie dough and colored royal icing, but don't want to bother with pie dough. Could be because I'm not a pie fan. My grandmother made a pecan pie that was so sweet and rich it made my teeth ache. Just can't do that.
Since things have calmed down and snow is in the forecast, we're going to get away for a few days. Going to a ski resort on the Canadian border. Should be a lovely drive with all the fall colors. Also will stop and do some Christmas shopping.
