How many times do I have to start over before I'm finally able to do what's right and stick with it for the duration? Answer: As many as it takes!

This week has been horrible in terms of my eating. I don't plan ahead, forget to thaw things out that are frozen, don't eat when I should and then often eat the wrong things once I do get around to eating.

This week, more than usual, I have been going through a lot of drive-thrus (most recently Zaxby's and Bojangles) picking up meals on my way home. I am determined to stop sabotaging myself and jeopardizing my health any further. I'm a very independent person and live alone, so I have to be able to take care of myself, and I have to tell myself that I'm worth it and believe it.

I did have one really delicious and healthy meal this week, but it was expensive. I met a friend for dinner at one of Greenville's newer restaurants. I had the special fish of the day which was Florida Grouper. Hadn't had Grouper in forever, and enjoyed every morsel. Also had broccoli. Was proud of myself for my healthy choices. Need to make myself proud of my choices and actions more often.

Just some random thoughts I needed to get down. I will be thinking about this some more as I go through the rest of the evening.

I was really disappointed when I stepped on the scale at TOPS last night and saw that I had gained three pounds since I had been there two weeks prior. And I was the one who had issued the challenge of a no-gain meeting! I wasn't the only one who gained, but that didn't take away my disappointment.

I knew we were having a guest plus a visit from our Area Captain at last night's meeting, so I went out of my way to prepare a good program. It was about sodium.

In the preparation of the program, I realized just how foolish I have been, knowing full well that I have high blood pressure and heart problems plus edema for which I take medication. Yet, I've done very little to control how much sodium is in my diet. That was kind of a wake-up call for me. Now I'm thinking that if I start eating with that in mind that maybe, just maybe I can start to drop some of my excess baggage that I've been carrying around.

Today I finally used my NutriBullet Pro for the first time. I bought it several weeks ago. It took a while to take it out of the box and then another while to get it from the dining room table to the kitchen counter where it belongs. This morning I washed all the cups, lids and blades that came with it, and this afternoon I made my first NutriBlast.

Following the basic guidelines, I made up my own recipe using 2 cups of spinach, a handful or less of frozen blackberries and strawberries, a few fresh raspberries, 1/2 a banana and 1/8 cup of chia seeds. Filled to the Max line with ice cold water from the fridge - no ice.

It took me a minute or so to figure out how to twist and pulse after I got it on the base, but it worked in seconds! I did take it off the base once to tape the sides and shake it a bit to make sure that all got emulsified.

It was absolutely delicious, and I didn't taste the spinach or chia seeds at all! Now that I have one under my belt, I will be putting this to regular use and trying different recipes and combinations. I hope that all the NutriBlasts I might make taste even half as good as this one!

Having said that, I probably shouldn't be having that much fruit in one day, but at least it was mostly berries, which are better for weight loss and high in anti-oxidants.

Okay, so I missed the TOPS meeting last Thursday night because I wasn't feeling well. I haven't been feeling well for quite a while, it seems. I'm wondering if it's because I'm on two heart meds that both are intended to slow down my heart. I think they may have slowed it down too much. My pulse has been in the mid 40s at times, and those are days when I'm feeling especially tired. Don't see my cardiologist again until August so monitoring my BP and staying in more due to our heat and humidity.

I finally got out yesterday to do some grocery shopping and bought mostly healthy stuff, BUT I also bought a bag of Tootsie Roll Midgets and two pints of Haagen Daz ice cream. I have already consumed the entire bag of Tootsie Rolls and one pint of ice cream. I am not going to allow myself to delve into the other pint.

Via Email I challenged everyone in my TOPS chapter to a no-gain meeting this week, and I'm thinking after my 4.8 lb. loss at the last meeting I attend that I am not going to be able to show another loss this week. I certainly won't if I keep eating sweets!

Lord, help me! I need to find a way to stop sabotaging myself at every turn.

I haven't posted my weight on Fat Secret for a while, so it doesn't reflect the ups and downs I've had. All I know for sure is that last night on the scales at TOPS, it showed a lost of 4.8 lbs. from the previous week. I was shocked!

I did make a few changes this past week. Drank more water and only had Diet Coke once. Ate less overall and managed to avoid temptation several times. Was also forced to use a different walker when I lost two screws and a wheel fell off my rollator walker. This other one has been giving me far more of a workout.

Although I had a brief lapse where I had my fill of sugary candy, I plan to have another good week. Don't know if I can have another loss that good next Thursday, but if it's a loss of any amount, I'll take it. The whole idea is to see the numbers on the scale moving downward and to tell better and have more energy.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. It's going to be super hot and steamy here in the Southeast, so I'll likely be spending most of the weekend having my fun here at home.
