1/12/23, one month shy of 2 yr FS anniversary. After three months of hovering around the low 180s I am recording a new low weight of 180 on the nose. Haven’t seen 180.0 since before November 2013! Total loss this time around: 57 lb. Major thanks to this app and community for all the help and support.

Things I did differently this past week to finally get the scale to budge (last two were unintentional):

🔹Four new hours of light cardio, weights and line dancing
🔹30g extra protein per day
🔹No empty calories from alcohol
🔹No empty calories from tortilla chips (a weakness)

Daily average calories Jan 3-11: 1400
Macros for the past month:
Jan 2-8: 39C 33F 29P
Dec 26-Jan 1 39C 38F 23P
Dec 19-25 42C 35F 23P
Dec 12-18. 46C 35F 19P

Mentally I really need to see the 170s but I will enjoy this victory. Yahoo! Hope everyone is having a great week. Remember to count your blessings along with your calories (or weight reps or however else you’re staying accountable)!

So a few days ago I posted that I intended to increase my physical activity. Writing that here caused me to recall some local exercise classes that I found out about during the pandemic that were being held on Zoom. It is a program offered by my town’s senior center, open to those 50 and above. So much to my delight I learned that in-person classes have resumed in addition to the online sessions. Yesterday I went to my first class and it was just what I was looking for: a good instructor with exercises that you could modify as needed, at a reasonable cost. (I’m not trying to replace gym equipment here; just a decent mix of cardio and resistance training.) The price is exactly what this is worth to me (8 classes for $24 or $4.50 each to drop in) and it’s close by. So I just wanted to share this if you’re a bit older like me and looking for a way to start or return to exercising gradually, or you just want to add something different to your routine, without a big time or financial commitment. Check out your town’s rec center or senior center to see what’s being offered. Oh, and the instructor was very personable, the other people in the class were friendly and helpful, and it was fun. Win, win, win, win, win!!

Can’t say that I have any great history of even making goals or resolutions for the new year, let alone keeping them. Gee, maybe that’s part of the problem! But I have been thinking about it today, motivated by all the great and realistic ideas everyone has been sharing. One obvious thing I need to work on next year is getting more exercise. I did return to the gym in March so yay, points for that. Using this app I can count how many days each month that I do something (anything!) that counts for burning calories (whether or not the FS expenditure value is accurate). So my modest goal is to increase my average exercise days to at least twice a week and hopefully more. I know it should be higher but this is a start.

Also, I’ve had nearly two years to think about what I am willing to share in a bio here. Maybe I’ll come up with something by Feb 15. Plus I have a couple of other general life goals in mind.

The last time I commented here about my weight I said maybe it was ok that it was staying the same for a few days. That was two months and two pounds ago. Finally today I saw a new low so I posted it quick, before tomorrow’s ham dinner interferes. Happy New Year everyone. May 2023 bring us all better health and more time to enjoy the people and things that bring us JOY. Thank you all for being here. Together we can.
