51 yrs - white whale of a male. At my worst, I was up to 258. My recent best (in May of this year) was 222.

I've notice recently that my gross tonnage is on the rise, and I need FatSecret to help me count calories.

I consider my self healthy and active, but I still can't see my abs. Once I achieve my goal (I'm thinking right around 210), I'll change my profile picture.

At my high weight (258), I had the following: lower back problems, stints of sciatica, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, snoring problems (sleep apnea??), and general malaise (depression etc.).

Since I've come down to my current weight (228), all those issues above have disappeared. I'm still working with anemia (hereditary), low HDL (hereditary), and a few other musculo-skeletal issues which will be with me forever. I anticipate getting down to my current goal weight will relieve me of HDL problems (my Doc says it's improving).

Why am I doing this? I have a young son (8 yrs old), and I am determined to be active in his "growing-up years". And once he's out of the house, I want to be an active retiree.
