Fitness has always been a part of my adult life, whether it was my time spent in the Army in my 20's, competitively racing mountain bikes in my 30's, or enjoying weekend motocross in my 40's ... fitness has always been there for me.

However, throughout the years I never took my diet very seriously and as a result, my weight fluctuated, sometimes by 30lbs. Back in 2012-2013 I enlisted the help of a personal trainer and I was able to lose 30lbs! I achieved my healthiest self in years! But soon after achieving this goal, I broke my leg in a motocross accident, and by 2016 I had gained all my weight back and then some (up to 235).

In the Fall of 2016, I took back control of my health by committing myself to a new life of health and fitness by joining a local gym & Orange Theory Fitness. I recently crossed the 2 year mark of this amazing lifestyle and have once again lost a good portion of that pesky 30lbs I gained back. If there is one thing I’ve learned on this journey, healthy living is a complete lifestyle that has to be approached holistically. YOU CAN’T OUT-WORK A BAD DIET.

What works for me?
1. Balanced diet (yes...carbs, but limited)
2. Food logging
3. Copious amounts of exercise: strength, kettle bells, HIIT, steady-state cardio, rowing, mountain biking... a little bit of everything (the key to engagement)

You have to be 100% committed to changing yourself with constant and unwavering discipline and consistency. There are going to be good days and bad days. The goal is to have more good days than bad...
