Good (yawn) morning.. Sleepy. Woke up 2+ hours earlier than normal this morning to the smoke alarm beeping its low battery beep. beep. beep... and the dog going ballistic because that sound must hurt her ears and so it sends her into panic mode. So abrupt up to calm her down and pray to God Ive got a 9 volt battery to shut the thing up. It is hard wired alarm so once that battery goes low that beep just gets longer and louder til it has a new one! Go downstairs, fish thru kitchen and desk drawers, aha! ONE 9 volt left in the last drawer! Thank you God! Back up the stairs, she's really freaking out by now. Change the battery at the top of the stairs... Beep! Whut? Listening...ugh its the OTHER alarm! Quick battery switch, dog is running circles, and.... silence. Thank God. Get her some lavender drops for her collar and assure her the world isnt ending today. So, here I am falling asleep into my black coffee and looking forwrd (NOT) to dentist appt at noon! Smack my head. But thankful the alarm at least was just a battery issue and not the alternative. Hope everyone has a great beep free day. zzzzzzzz xo

Oh boy. Tough start. But you solved it super woman!! Nap later? If possible? If not, to bed earlier tonight and sleep like you’re dead. Haha. Take it easy. Two less hours of shut eye does not feel good. From someone who ‘knows!’ xo

Most likely the latter, wifey. I'll sit down to read and by line two my eyes will be crossing lol. So I'll try to watch a little TV before bed and fall asleep with the remote. Lol, all's well that ends well 😅

Talk about a rude awakening, that must have been a frightening ordeal. Good that you had batteries in the house. Maybe you can have a nap this afternoon.

Just a suggestion, change every battery in the house when daylight savings time starts. I also buy the really expensive lithium batteries ($23 for a pack of 8) for hard to reach devices like smoke detectors. Then I toss all the old ones into a container and use them for things like remotes. I do the same with flashlight batteries only I change those out twice a year at the daylight savings time switch. Fresh batteries and I have made sure that ALL (of my many) flashlights actually work.

Lol that Is a crappy way to wake up. Had the same issue a few months ago with mine only ours talks when battery is low so in the middle of the night that stupid thing started saying low battery and I jumped out of bed like someone was in my condo ....Haye that stupid smoke alarm.

Oh my gosh!! I literally make sure to keep extra 9v batteries for such a nightmare! I’m like your dog and have sensitive hearing! That’s happened to me before only minus having a dog or the battery! Lol 😂

Sorry for being slow to reply to everyone. Had my appointment and then grocery shopping and a banger of a headache all afternoon. Going to make supper and relax.

Oh no storms! That is a nightmare! I was lucky that I had one left. Sasha can't handle shrill noise. It hurts! I know you know! I usually always have an assortment of the different sizes on hand, time to restock! Dentist appt was a routine visit. Thank you! 🥰

Glad you had an extra battery, we keep a supply on hand the only thing is the ceilings in the living room are 20 feet high and all the other rooms the ceilings are 14 feet so that means we have to bring in the super high ladder to change the batteries out at our house. Glad the dentist appointment was routine.

Golfgirl, I am SOOO thankful I did not have to climb a ladder to replace the battery!! I am scared of heights and I'd probably have just shut off the breaker!!

Golf girl can you just have the 20 foot one removed- or remove battery and disarm and have another type installed on the wall, if that is legal. I just bought batteries that were $23 dollars for 8 but they are meant for loooong term use for devices in hard to reach areas. ENERGISER

The fire alarms in this house are hard wired and hooked up to the fire suppression system for the house so no they cannot be removed. Wish I could.
