54 yr old woman married with no children. Been having some trouble with my weight as I'm getting older.
I go to the gym almost every day. I like the elliptical and I weight train now (started in the last few months). I got into running in 2016 but then starting having trouble with my hip so had to stop in late 2017. Now (July - September 2018) going to physical therapy to fix the hip issue. It's worked so I'll be stopping soon. I would like to run again but am a bit scared that the hip issue will come back.
My two biggest obstacles to staying slim - I LOVE food - I love to eat it, cook it, shop for it, watch cooking shows, pictures of it, trying new recipes I just love it. I think food is awesome - almost all kinds (don't like cake, cookies, ice cream, fruit - not a sugar/sweet fan). I love whole savory foods - especially vegetables. I love the different tastes, smells and textures of whole foods. I can eat meat and vegetables (and cheese - GOD how I LOVE cheese) and never get full. THAT'S my biggest problem - I am very rarely FULL to a point where I say I just can't eat anymore. There seems to always be room for more.
Obstacle #2 - red, red wiinnneee - stay close to meeeeee---- I love my red wine (any kind as long as it's dark red). I drink 3-4 glasses 3-4 nights per week. Those calories add up. I gave up my beloved cheese for this diet but I won't give up my wine. I'd rather be "chunky" than not have my wine. Please don't think that I drink all that wine and get drunk and fall down - I drink it real slow...over the coarse of 6 hours or so. I enjoy the taste immensely and I savor the flavor. Been a "wino" for 25 years or more. HDL - in the high 70's (thank you wine!!) LOL
So that's it - I came to FS to find inspiration and connect with others who are on a journey of weight loss and better health.
