Water water water. Today is a day of water for me. But I am wondering, how much water is really required? On my FB site they say to drink to thirst. Other places say to drink half your body weight (in oz). For me that is 100 oz. I generally can get 80 oz in a day with little difficulty but 100 is much harder for some reason and can even make me nauseous. Just wondering what works for my friends.

@gz9gjg I agree about the salt. I always suggest people research Sole salt solution, cheap, easy and effective... for people starting with keto, I avoided the “flu”

Shabu Shabu necessitates a great deal of water to wash out the salt....for sure

according to health coach and my doctor, 64 oz/ day. I read up on water and it said don't drink more than 27-33 oz / hr. kidneys cant get rid of it; more than that would be water toxicity which is fatal. FYI.

working with health professional for weight loss. learning alot. I guess I would caution the practice of drinking water only when thirsty. By the time a person feels thirsty they are already dehydrated and down by 2 cups. safety is priority. good job with all the weight loss. big thumbs up !!!! :-)

Diet Pepsi doesn’t help. My post below, I hope I said that my doctor and nutritionist required all non-caffeinated and non-carbonated. Diet Pepsi fails on both counts. Caffeine is a diuretic and so just dehydrates you further. Carbonated drinks have carbonic acid in them which cause damage to your teeth, bloating in the stomach, acid in the urinary tract and is hard for the liver to clear. (I was a Diet Pepsi addict for years, but if you are going to have gastric bypass surgery you cannot drink pop from then on as it will start to reverse the surgery!)🤷🏻‍♀️

@smprowett in middle school we were always taught that to undo or counter act the damages of one soda beverage you would need one healthy milk drink (calcium and vitamin d enriched) one cup of water and one herbal tea... (Packed with adaptogenic herbs)... soooo I have never counted anything carbonated as an actual beverage.

@ mamamc7 yeah, it’s pretty nasty stuff, but quite a few of us became addicted to that fizzy taste. One of my hardest things to give up for my sleeve bypass was the Diet Pepsi!🤦🏻‍♀️

@smprowett... if people who want the flavor of soda but cant have carbonation they can buy the soda stream flavoring syrups... they have diet ones... you can just add some of that to regular water?!

Honestly the soda stream with the syrups seems exactly the same as a diet soda purchased anywhere. The crap is in the syrup not the carbonated water.

Himalayan pink salt or the salt in broth or bouillon, it's all going to help. I have read too many posts recently of people who start low carb and get faint / light headed and fall, get concussion and other injuries. I'd rather use the pink stuff in my bath than drinking it, though.

@newnbetter totally agree that the syrup and icky stuff would still be in it, but people who have had the stomach surgeries can’t have carbonation...

@gz9gjg I love HPS so much. Use it internally and bathe in it ♥️

@SMprowett, you need to change that to commercial carbonated drinks, including la croix. it's the additives, not the carbonation which is simple CO2 and while it does form an acid (the bubbles show the reaction), most tap water trends toward alkaline, which results in a fairly neutral liquid. Most commercial drinks contain citric acid which is what gets your teeth unless you use a straw.

Hello everyone. Just going through all the messages and replies. If your needing a change with your water: I went to Walmart and checked out all the flavor packets. Crystal Light is around 5 cal and sugar free.($1.27 a box) multiple flavors!! Soda/Pop is used as a treat when we go out or traveling downstate or out of state. So far that is working and they see a difference. Even cut out some koolaids.
