Ok, I have decided to get my butt in gear and lose this weight. February 21st is Fat Tuesday, which is the last day of Mardi Gras and then Lent starts. My husband stated he is going to give up sweets for Lent, so this will help a lot. It hasn't been too cold here; we haven't even been able to use our fireplace this winter. I had to use the air conditioner for Thanksgiving and Christmas…anywhoo...I am looking forward to working in the yard and walking more on the beach and hopefully wear shorts this summer. There have been too many slips and not enough weight loss. I am going to take back the control and remove self doubts that have been creeping in and concentrate on the positive. I know I can reach my goals and I am going to show it

How did that name Fat Tuesday come about? Is it because you are suppose to pig out before Lent? I'm looking forward to the spring as well but unlike you we have had a bit of winter, not as bad as normal but still I can't even think of getting into the garden for another two to three months. Hopefully once you get out and working in the yard it will get you past this plateau you are in.

Fat Tuesday is the last day to drink, and eat in excess before the fasting for Lent. It is one big community party, food everywhere, ice chest filled, parades, and children are out of school for 3 days for the celebration. We are nothing like New Orleans where they cater a lot to the adults, here we still support it as a Family Event. It is our heritage and we teach the children the rites of Mardi Gras. Yes, I have Spring fever really bad and the sooner I can get outside the better.
