Sorry folks: I told everyone that I was taking 3 days off in a row. Mind you, still haven't gotten a vacation in 31 yrs. Working on that. Anyway, I've told them everyday for a week that I need time off. What do you think? I get a call today. "It's the only nice day for a few days, let's put an hour in at work." (I work outside some days). It takes me over 15 min to get there. For just 1 hr? I stuck to my guns and said "I am taking the day off. Why can't I enjoy a nice day for once?" I am so sick of the people in my life still treating me like I don't matter. I feel really sorry for them that they are so self-absorbed. I love myself and I will do things for myself that will bring me joy. I do matter as well as each of us on this site! Have a great weekend :)

They were probably hoping you'd do the hour and then just keep working, after all the trouble to get there, etc. So glad you said NO. It took me a long time to figure out that sacrificing myself for everyone didn't earn me any extra consideration in return. They just expected it.
