Glen, you're my hero! You are such a kindhearted man :) 

Glen, after 9 1/2 years at the animal hospital, I lost it. A young employee that I've only seen twice, talked down at me yesterday. I have never, and I do mean never, let anyone see my true feelings on any job. I've always kept my mouth shut. I went right up to her and made her look in my eyes and I said: "Don't you never, ever talk down to me again!" --- Where did that come from? Who am I? I'm not the boss. It was all because I said we were representatives to this business. And was upset that the young girls won't do their jobs. I haven't heard from my boss yet. I hope that I was on recording so that the boss would see it was that I was trying to protect the business not just being nasty. I still can't believe that came out of my mouth. I have always been so quiet and put up with everyone's crap. I had been like that my whole life. I was raised to NEVER rock the boat. Anyway, I question myself: Who are you to command respect? Answer: ME --- Because it is so out of character, maybe it will become easier to stop letting people walk over me. Thank you for letting me get this out. Glen, it will all work out. Sugar...sometimes we just have had enough...like last night with my son. I was ugly to him but i am tired of him treating me whatever kind of way he thinks he can get away with. So far he is turning out to be so much like the man who made him, i just lost it with him. He asked me my opinion about him and this girl getting married and i told him. Well it wasnt what he wanted to hear and when i told him that no one but me supported his relationship with her he didnt believe me. So i lost it with him and said some very choice words if you get my meaning. But i will not apologize to him and when i see the man who made him again, i will have a few choice words for him as well... so dont beat yourself up about it. It happens to the best of us... 

Colleen, we teach other people how to treat us based on our behavior. If we tolerate it, people continue. I am proud of you telling her to stop the condescending attitude toward you. You may have taught her an important lesson while gaining self-respect in the process. You are a worthwhile person who deserves respect in every aspect of life.  

I like your Emerson quote. I think the older we get the less tolerance we have for jerks. You are are FLYing!
