Weekends are my weak moment -
I am in a stressful relationship we live in a tiny apartment and I don't get a second to myself.
He also expects to be fed and doesn't help out. I usually console myself w/ food, treats etc. I was good today, a key thing is I kept busy.
When I got home I went to bed, after a super late lunch early dinner. I don't have a second to myself. I don't think my husband does it out of any kind of malice, Italians are real home bodies and he never goes out, he usually has to be forced to go out. To snap out of depressive behaviour I am always out, always doing and then I end up resenting him because he gets to enjoy our home but won't allow me. So that was my Saturday night. In bed by 7.
During the day I went to our community garden party/meeting, I made a cream cheese spread w/spices and boild asparagus I chopped into it. Yum! We ate it w/ beanitos chips, I had about 10.
Other than that I also went to our Wildflower Center plant sale, got some local plants that have flowers. I want native plant flower boquets later this summer and fll. I also went to my favorite store in Austin they are a food utensil and kitchen ware store. Locally owned, I bought these hand crafted artisanal vinegars from Virgina. They are not made from wine - I got spicebush, wildfower and ramps vinegar. They are used to finish dishes, and you can make cocktails, mocktails and shrubs with them. Very refershing in the oppressive Texas heat.

Sounds like a good day...gardening dreams, yummy dip and some new kitchen fun! Love to try out vinegars and oils...Just don't know what a "shrubs" is when used in the same sentence with cocktail, mocktail...? You are having to nurture your hubby just like those flowers...maybe he is of the "slow growing" variety? ;)

A shrub is a 19th century and early century non alcholic drink that is fruit vinegar based, topped off w/ sparkling water. So yummy, refershing and light. Mine didn't have the usual vinegar syrup which has sugar, mine this weekend had zero sugar but were made with herb infused vinegars from virginia, so were very fresh and amazing. Maybe one or two has a nip of vodka in it. Anway loved it.

That does sound refreshing! You have to know that because you mentioned garden meetings and wild flowers in that post I was envisioning snipping off a part of some bushes as stir stix or something :) I learn the darndest things on the internet! :)
