Please read, sign, and share this enrichment act petition that demands our doctors to get at least some training in nutrition.

I wish more of them would get the truth about nutrition. They still follow the old principal of counting calories first, when it should be focused individually, mainly LCHF, and leaving off the starches. If I hadn't wised up and quit going to the weight loss clinic, I would probably already be crippled or dead. I certainly didn't receive any help with weight loss. I did that on my own.

You should have seen my doctor's face when I told him I am eating coconut oil. He was not pleased with me.

That's because he knows you are on the road to getting slim without surgery!

I agree, Shea! rhontique, mine too! I have to do "mandatory" labs every 6 months, and every 6 months my labs improve. Yet, she still says my diet is not healthy, and not to believe everything you read on the internet. 😂

my cholesterol was the lowest it's ever been at 149 with great ratios. So he agreed to stopping my statins and Zetia, but insisted on labs in 2 months. Here's hoping they stay in normal range!!

Yayyyy!!!! There has been some great talks about cholesterol and stations on the Fat Summit. I'm loving it! I wouldn't care if my cholesterol was sky high after researching.

Got to let you know that taking B3 (Niacin) lowers cholesterol too!

My hubby takes that! I may get into his stash.

Yeah, they don't get much training in college on nutrition, but their specialty isn't exactly about food though. Surgeons aren't going to be studying nutrition, they're going to be studying how to cut out body parts and prescribe pain medication. I do however commend the doctors who take the initiative to add nutrition to their expertise like Dr. Peter Attia, M.D. He literally used himself as a lab rat to test his physical performance while in ketosis. He talks about how he used to weigh a bit heavier, but was very fit, but he says that fitness doesn't equate health. He was very fit, but his blood pressure, cholesterol, and everything was off the charts despite trying to eat healthy food and exercising like a marathoner. Here's an excellent lecture by him. There was never a dull moment as he was very informative in everything he articulated. I usually end up watching all 1 hour and 17 minutes several times in order to absorb information that I might have missed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqwvcrA7oe8

^^ If you can't stomach technical scientific jargon and numbers and biochemistry formulas put you to sleep, I wouldn't suggest watching it. It's basically like him teaching a graduate level college class.

Thanks for the info! Money will always run the world but it's up to us to make sure EVERY DOLLAR we spend goes to companies and professionals that deserve it.

Bcoulal, thanks for the tip on Peter Attia's lecture. Enjoyed it!

I think most doctors only have time to keep up on their specialty and refer patients to a nutritionist if they feel it might be helpful. I happen to know a nutritionist and she still subscribes to the low fat concept and my other friends - all of whom teach at a college level in either science or genetics (in the medical school) - still talk about a steak as "heart attack" foodstuff. Nutritionists are trained to whatever the USDA guidelines are, and those tend to back up manufactured food products. I never argue with any of these people because here I am, fat, and they are all slim. Once the weight is off though, I might be able to offer an alternative viewpoint.

It all comes back to one factor - greed! Monsanto has the food sources contaminated, and the pharmaceutical companies have the healthcare system brainwashed. All for their own bottom line - and our "bigger" bottoms.
