Random thoughts- I was trying to figure out how i got 2 identical bruises on each forearm, about 4 inches above the wrist. One is fading but the other is really purple. I've figured out the location is exactly where a door knob or handle would be if I hit it. I vaguely remember hitting my arm on something and thinking "that's what must have happened before". I think I was half asleep and probably got up to go to the bathroom. I hate when bruises just appear.

Every day seems exactly like the day before. The only thing that is different is Monday I have to make sure the garbage cans are out. I get up between 5 and 6, drink one or 2 mugs of coffee, feed Bobby and the cats at 6 when Marco gets his insulin shot. Then I spend about an hour cleaning the house so it is ready if someone wants to see it. Then I spend 30 minutes to an hour outside pulling weeds or raking before it gets too hot to do anything. I get maybe 1-3 people a week looking at my house. Yesterday, I was hopeful because they were in my house for about 40 minutes. But so far, no offer or request to look at the house again. Around 10 or 11am I am tired. Don't do much the rest of the day unless someone is coming to look at the house. Then I get Bobby in the car and figure out where to go for about an hour. I realized my morning routine wasn't good for Bobby because I wasn't taking him for a walk. So I've started taking him for a walk around 6:30 for 30-40 minutes, I think it's about 2 miles. Then I do the house and yard work.

I am happy more people are looking at the house but am getting somewhat discouraged about it selling. I had even been thinking about taking it off the market until early next year. Then there was a fire 2 days ago, really, really too close to my house. Around 2pm I looked out the front window and it looked hazy out. So I went on to the front porch and could smell smoke and saw ash f!oating down in front of me. All my neighbors were outside trying to figure out where the fire was. I got ready to leave, got the cat and Bobby in the car (cats were meowing their heads off), then one of my neighbors said the fire was under control, no one was being evacuated. It was a brush fire and only 2 acres burned, but the response was amazing, over 80 personnel and water drops being made. So it reminded me of why I wanted to move. And it's only June! I think this summer is going to be crazy with the heat and fires.

And my knee is aching more now that the cortisone shot has worn off.

Thanks Leah - I've always been a worrier, something I inherited from my mother. I'm better than I used to be, but after being evacuated several years ago because of a nearby fire I get really stressed or anxious during fire season, which is usually from June to November when it's hot and dry an we don't get rain during those months. And trying to sell the house is much worse than I expected it to be. I can't live my normal life because I never know when someone will want to see the house. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a dog that has to leave with me.

Fritzy---I understand your anxiety. The first wildfire my son fought was in California. I was so worried, but he did fine. I hate to say it, but he made a lot of money fighting fires there. It seems like his unit was called to California several times a season. Still I was glad when he was hired on as a city fire fighter. Don't know if it was ant safer, but felt better.

Since you are moving, have you considered someplace where there are people and activities that you can participate in. It seems that you are feeling isolated and living in areas that, although beautiful, are creating more anxiety than they might be worth. A condo without so much “house responsibility is actually a great thing.

I'm sorry you are feeling so much stress! I can understand how you feel about the fires. It has to be disconcerting to feel like you have to evacuate every time you hear of a fire. My heart goes out to you. I hope you get a buyer soon for the house! I think that it would really help you feel more at ease and plus you can move forward in your life. I've been thinking about you lately, glad you posted. Hope those bruises heal quickly! I constantly get bruises from the weights at the gym ( I think) and I don't remember hitting myself on them...take care!🩷

are you taking vitamin E? I was and my GP told me to stop. My random bruising stopped.

Thanks Tink! We love the fire fighters here in Northern California! Where i live most of the fire stations are volunteers, but when there is a fire that could become major, fire fighters start arriving from everywhere. After the fire that had my neighborhood evacuate about 6 or 7 years ago (that memory doesn't go away) there were signs everywhere expressing our love of the fire fighters. I think they should get paid as much as movie stars!

Kenna, I am pretty sure I know where I am moving. When I moved to my current house the first thing I did was join a Meetup walking group. It was a great way of meeting people. Almost everyone would go out for coffee after we walked. I also sold Avon for awhile as a way of meeting people. There aren't any Meetup groups where I am moving but I could always start one. There is a neighborhood I like for people over 55 that seems to have lots of activities. There are also some condos, but with my dog, it's better to have a little backyard. I've also talked with my pet sitter and she really stays busy with jobs all the time. I wouldn't want to stay at someone else's house, but she always has "stop and feed" jobs for people with cats where she just goes in to feed and scoop litter boxes once or twice a day. When I want to go out of town I actually plan my trip around when she is available. There is also a lighthouse nearby and they have lots of volunteers, mostly retired ladies. So I have been thinking about it!

Thanks Diana! The last 2 or 3 years the fires haven't been too bad in my area so it was scary to have all the bad memories return. I re-did my "go bag" with clothes, and important papers. I need to re-do the one for the pets too. The most difficult part of having to leave quickly is getting the cats in a carrier. Dogs are easy, they just jump into the car. Cats will hide if they know I am trying to get them. Before I put my house up for sale I kept the 3 cat carriers in the master bedroom and during fire season I just keep the cats in the bedroom. They spend most of their time there anyway. The bruises are fading, but last night I got up around midnight to check the thermostat and hit my arm on the bedroom door handle. I keep the door partially closed. I need to pay more attention and stop walking into door handles! I also think I hit my arm on the kitchen island at times. I am hoping people will look at my house over the weekend. But it is supposed to be around 100 so maybe everyone will be staying inside!

I hope your house sells soon. We don't get many fires in this area but we have some neighbors who are really stupid.

Is your house listed on that Zillow website? I know several people who bought homes using Zillow. A great resource it seems.

Thanks Morticia! I wasn't really aware of fire issues until the last 10 years. They are increasing

Kenna, my house shows up on Zillow and all the other sites like Realtor.com and Redfin. Lots of people buy vacation homes here so I have had people of from Silicon Valley and the Bay Area looking.

I don’t know if this is possible for you, but my friend moved out, stored her stuff and had her house staged, and it sold quickly. The realtor fronted the costs of the staging.

Thanks Kat, people keep suggesting having my house staged. I really don't know if they do much of that where I live. Maybe the $2.5 million homes on the lake but not my house in the woods. Most of my furniture is gone, other than my master bedroom. It isn't possible for me to move anywhere with the 3 cats, maybe with Bobby, but not the cats. I am sending you a pm.

Ejean - sorry I missed your comment! No, I don't take vitamin E. I just bump into things!

Fritzy what about a short term rental like a Vrbo where you could take your cats also? I think thats a great idea. As you know, im a huge believer in staging. Very few people have the imagination to look beyond a home that isn’t well staged these days. Just my opinion of course but ive been investing in real estate for decades and, at least out here and at the ocean house (vacation property) staging made a big difference. Things sell much faster that way.
