OMG! My girlfriend hit a homerun with this brunch today! Spinach, green beans, beefsteak with potatoes etc along with 2 corn tortillas. A huge plate of food that is sure to not spike my blood sugar! Very tasty as well. Here are the before and after shots.



Did 30 minutes on the bike, 6.04 miles with 221 calories burned.

Stuffed myself with the Monday special at Alberto's, big cheese quesadilla, rice and beans. Tasted great! Weight will go up tomorrow.

Just noticed after looking at my weight history that I have been between 168 something and 171 something since 11/27, on that date I weighed 172 something. This despite many, many huge meals like the one above. See previous journal entries for the food pics.

This leads me to think that I have made it to my natural weight level at 61 years of age. I also took a look in the mirror, a real look, and discovered that my once formidable belly and love handles have almost disappeared, I can live with what is left as I know that you cannot determine where your body is going to burn the fat, despite what all the books and websites say.

I thought about trying to rebuild my body but know deep inside that I will never be a muscle man. But I would like a little definition which will be the route that I take. I am already noticing some results using this new exercycle in my thighs and in my fore and upper arms, but there is a long way to go. It is not that easy to just use the arms only, I am going to work on building up some endurance next.

Regarding the e-book, I have decided to not have a free giveaway in the traditional sense; I have cut the price to 99 cents and that is where this edition will stay as Amazon Kindle readers have the option of borrowing the book for free, up to 2 weeks in fact. Plenty of time to read and digest my little 74 page e-book and begin the process of stopping prediabetes from morphing into fullblown diabetes and all that entails. That was my motivation, I had no desire to start giving myself shots as my doctor warned me would happen if I didn't change my ways.

This highlights something about the medical/dietary field. My experience of being giving a potential diagnosis, a few generalities and a couple of handouts and sent on my way seems to be standard operating procedure. Luckily for me, I know my way around Google Search and could find info and sift out the wheat from the chaff, many folks can't do that. Wonder what happens to them?

And the nutrition class I was told to attend still taught the plate approach, heavy on carbs and calorie counting. Too much work for one and no way do I believe high carb and low fat is the way to go when facing the prospect of diabetes.
