Im having a surprise party Saturday and ordered two cakes from costco. Havent had one from there in probably 10 or more years. Hope it’s good after reading this. Of course, i will probably also just eat a couple bites then throw in garbage. Funny thing, all food ends up in the trash eventually whether thru the septic system or the garbage company so makes no difference how it gets there really😂 

Maybe my opinion is biased based on all those sheet cakes people would bring in for celebrations at work. I could never eat the frosting it was just too sugary so I would look like a weirdo only eating the cake part and scrape the frosting off. Everyone wanted the corner piece or a side piece with lots of frosting. I was like no give me an inside piece. Lol 

Mike's Pastry in Boston's North end - Yum! I'm with you Unitey, if I take a bite and decide it's 'not worthy' of the calories, I move on. PP, no one wants a partially eaten piece of cake by stranger..really? 

Yearofhealth2023, I've had plenty of store-bought cakes that were fabulous. This one was not worth my calories, as JuJu mentioned. Your Costco cake will be fab too. 💙

OTB, I wanted to love that cake. I really did. I tried. 😆 I would pass it every week on display in the supermarket and tell myself, no, no... wait for a special occasion. It was false advertising if you ask me. 🤣 or maybe that first piece I'd been staring lovingly at for almost a year, was the same piece I bought yesterday... 😁

Absolutely Unity. I always wanted to start my own bakery but never did. I dont think I cld take the winters up north anymore either. Good luck!  

This is one area where it helps that I am a vegan. Finding vegan baked goods at the grocery store is tough to do so I don't even bother. If I want some sugar/baked goods I have to either make it myself (low motivation) or drive to the one vegan cake place downtown.  

Unity1234 About throwing away cake and done because the person had never been hungry, had money to waste...just noted that comment again. I have thrown away inedible food purchased with my very last money for the week. Never hungry? Worked full time at a job that paid 1/4 of what I had made and could have still been making but I opted to do it so I would be home with children evenings and night as a newly single mother. I have foraged for wild (free) food and been down to only oil and flour in my cupboard. Yep, I've shared my last food with someone who had none too. Not to blow my own horn but to make the point that a persons choices in life and eating vary and are not open for judgement by anyone elso who may make knee-jerk responses based on complete lack of knowledge. Ah luvs me some FACTS. ;-) 

Diana, case in point for me is Hostess Twinkies. Dad at one time worked on a jobsite near the Hostess day-old outlet and on Friday (payday) brought home little mini loaves of bread and Twinkies. They were wonderful. The last time I bought a box of Twinkies after years of abstinence, they were totally different despite looking like the genuine article. All I tasted was chemicals with a bitter aftertaste and were sickeningly sweet artificially flavored. Totally inedible. I've bought a pan with twelve pockets in it to someday make my own real sponge-cake bars and fill with real whipped cream/vanilla pudding filling. Someday.
