I am finding it way too easy to do absolutely nothing all day if I want. I have an excuse, my knee. I am hoping that if I rest it, it may heal. I am using a wedge pillow to keep my knee elevated, but I have told myself I have to get up at least once an hour and move around a bit. I keep a pedometer in my pocket and my goal is at least 200 steps an hour. It usually ends up being 400 or more steps. My new commitment is to pack at least one thing every day, throw something out and clean something. I have no idea when the house I will be moving to will be built or even when they will start building. This morning I brought a,framed picture in from the garage, cleaned it (glass front) and got the vacuum to clean any dust on the picture. Then I packed it using an old towel instead of newspaper. Then filled up the rest of the box with other small framed pictures. Since I had the vacuum out, I vacuumed the kitchen and hallway by the guest rooms. Changed the sheets on the bed in the guest room and mopped the kitchen floor. So I've met my packing and cleaning goals for the day. Now my knee is aching after going up and down the garage stairs at least a dozen times.

Plan to bake chicken breast and make Asian chicken salad for lunch. My eating has been bad for about 2 weeks. I hope to get back on track soon, but until I really feel the commitment in my mind I keep on eating things I shouldn't.

You should ask about repair of the meniscus apart from full knee replacement as well. All these tough decisions, I’m sorry you’re going through all this.

Thanks Kat, ill add that to my list for the 2nd opinion. I did ask my doctor if it could heal even though it's torn nearly all the way through. He said yes, but typically in younger people. Then he said you'll be 69 in June, so almost 70. Thanks Doctor K! But I think I read somewhere that after 70 surgeries become more difficult. That's kind of why I'm asking if it's inevitable for a knee replacement even if arthroscopic surgery fixes things for awhile.

Kat, it sounds like they just trim the meniscus, don't sew it back together.

Fritzy 22 I take a special liquid curcumin that reduces inflammation and pain and is 277 times more bioavailable than what is on the market today.

Every case is different of course. I had arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus about 30 years ago and have never had a problem with my knee again.

I imagine it being almost torn in half makes a big difference.

Thanks Philwsw, I've never heard for curcumin! I remember hearing turmeric would help with inflammation. I bought it as a spice and did not like it at all. For some reason I couldn't take the pill. I think it may have been a capsule and/or too big. I have a,hard time swallowing pills.

Thanks again Shir! I've been reading over the MRI results. There were 2 issues, I don't understand any of it "near full radial tear at the medial meniscus root with increased in trash stance signal of posterior horn and body" I understand "tear"! I've been googling everything " what does moderate medial tibiofemoral blah blah blah osteochondral lesion blah blah marrow edema" mean. Looking things up sounds like some kind of surgery needed for someone my age and weight.

"Increased intrasubstance signal" not trash whatever.

Ha! If I knew what all that means I'd probably be qualified to do the surgery. Good luck Fritzy, hope you get the needed care soon.

This is where AI can be your friend. Ask it to explain in layman’s terms.

Fritzy 22 you can Google curcumin in PubMed.gov and find hundreds of scientific studies listing curcumin’s benefits. I put 10 drops in my coffee and don’t notice a taste. Curcumin is the best part of Tumeric. If you would like more info feel free to email me at philwsw@aol.com I wish you the best on your journey to better health.
