Good Morning FS Warriors! The fight against fat continues!!! For the 2nd week in a row I have had less than a 3 pound drop. Now granted, last week included my Thanksgiving indulgences, but I ended up with only a half a pound gain from that due to Fasting the day after. So, it has been 4 weeks since I upped my protein from around 68g per day to 120-140g per day. Also right after Thanksgiving I began lifting heavier....I got some higher rated resistance bands so I quit the 10 lb dumbbells and started my workouts with 20 lb bands. My workouts were too easy, these newer ones are not. So you folks who have experience in this area answer this question. At what point in lifting heavier do you start to see muscle growth? I am wondering if my slowdown on weight loss indicates that I have stopped losing muscle mass? So four weeks of higher protein, two weeks of intense (for me) strength training, am I building muscle or just not losing what muscles I have? I feel good, other than the tender spots from using neglected and overlooked muscles.

I have finally taken new measurements, the last measurements I took were pre-covid back at the end of July. I'm using my first set to show overall inches lost. There were areas I did not measure in the beginning, that are being measured now, they will be at the bottom with no comparison numbers.

So, what I am seeing here is loose skin dropping...gravity, you can't escape it, so my hips are now carrying the loose skin that dropped down from my waist and abdomen. My knees have caught the loose skin dropping down from my thighs, it's all wiggly and jiggly, but I can feel harder muscles beneath the jello, where before the muscles seemed flaccid. There has to be some type of toning and possibly growth happening there! Overall I am happy with my progress, I think the changes I've made were necessary and in the long haul, successful. Yes I slowed down my weight loss, but I improved my nutrition and hopefully I'm on the road to building strength and muscle. Only time will tell. I am grateful for my progress, for all of the things I have learned from the people on the page here and all of the fantastic support and love I get from you guys! @Deb Well, you know that's what originally led to my starting strength training more than anything in the beginning, increasing BMR. It seemed that I started having to eat less & less to lose. I'm almost sure that was due to muscle loss. I'd been down that road before & knew that wasn't sustainable for me. I knew that even if I met goal, the weight would be back with the vengeance. That's one good thing that comes with aging, lessons learned...lol. Then, I started noticing some loose skin. I know that I would never have the fortitude to go through skin surgery, even if I did have the funds for it. That's when I started thinking about gains. I know that I need to try to fill it out with muscle & hope for the best. At my age, it's not snapping back like it has before...lol.

@Zen and the world in general....It may sound strange, but other than having collarbone, what I look like after weight-loss is not even a concern of mine. I want to be able to go up and down steps, take long walks, maybe a jog. I need my weight to be where my health is good and my body can move. I need my mobility back, the ability to squat back on my heels....I can't do that right now. I want to live my best life And my husband Has Seen me at my best and my worst and everything in between. So it matters not how I look. He loves me anyway. He just wants me happy.

@Deb I had typed out a whole long post about the hubby, but there was an error & all was lost. I'll just make it short. He's the same way, but has his own way of showing support rather than verbally & he's out of town alot, so i think he just noticed a difference this weekend. My health is first & foremost. Shoot... my first goal was to be able to bend over without my breath being cut off. As we reach one goal, another one takes its place. That's what keeps us moving forward. You can only occomplish what you can first imagine. 😉😊

So very true and I have a tendency to reach for the stars and when I don't reach them....well I fall into a slump. So, I'm doing this for my health and a mobile old age...I'll be 59 in January, old age is right around the corner and if I can't get around good right now...WTH am I gonna do when I actually get old???? So healthy and mobile are my goals, when I get there....I will consider my next move! Some things will resolve on their own with enough time and effort, but I don't want to pin my hopes and expectations on them....just in case it does not happen.

I understand completely, Deb! I feel ya! I definitely don't want to be a burden in my old age, or have to opt for a living facility. I've always held to the saying "Shoot for the moon! If you fall a little short, you'll still be amongst the stars" saying, though.

Congrats Debra you are doing great I too started off loosing 10kb a month and Oct only list about 3 and November is about 5.5lb because I was not staying at just 1700calories and not eating as much as fruit as I did on the beginning but it's still loosing for us even if it slows down some..it's good to still loose i use bands to just bought a new set of 3 one is very easy one is moderate and then the hardest one I'm still using the lowest one on the days I don't forget it I gotta do better than I am...I've been out and about walking around in stores more than I was back in June when I first started here in the fs family which is helping me to but I've re committed to using the bands at least 3 days a week now...I can feel it in my arms now I feel like I have some muscle back where I had previously lost it and next working on my legs too....I'd say you are gaining muscle and that is a good thing g but I don't know as I'm new to this myself...

Sara! Thank You! I'm glad to her you are using bands, I had no idea how intense a workout you could get from a set of different weights...they are kicking my butt right now. I will still have some fruit, usually berries, once, maybe twice a week, I find I really don't miss them much....except during the summer when it's all fresh and juicy and it's hot and sticky outside!

...but Deb, you have to replace "see" with "feel" too because it still can't be seen to the naked eye bc of the flab. 🤣
